It's a necklace... I don't understand what it's purpose is other than being a necklace.

Its a necklace to be worn when you are afraid your baby will break your jewlery.. is that right?

I saw this once before and I think the whole thing is that babies like to pull on necklaces and can break them, and that they like to put everything in their mouths. So these necklaces are made to be strong and are also free of "bad" chemicals so if baby chews on it, it's all good.

That said, this wouldn't be something that I would probably get for myself.

Okay, now that I got the concept (thank you!) it's a total gimmick. My DD never managed to break the gold chain on my neck and she's strong as can be.

I agree. Think if you had that necklace pre-pregs- how often would it match/ would you wear it anyway?

I am planning to wear a breadstick threaded on a licorice.

I would think that if you let DC chew on YOUR necklace, s/he would think it's okay to chew on ANY necklace (e.g., your mom, MIL, sister, aunt, friend). I'm not much of an accessorizer though so I would just not wear anything at all on my neck.

I'd buy it because I think they are nice, but that would be the only reason.

These are great. I love nursing necklaces. As babies get older they get really distracted during nursing and this gives them something to play with. I have a nursing necklace that I have used with both my kids.

Not a waste of $$ IMO and experience!

Re: Do you think this is useful or a waste of $?

As a baby I probably ruined a lot of my moms jewlerly. I even broke a pair of diamond earrings, and tore her ear. The scar is still there, and I always feel guilty about it.

She warns me to get used to wearing no jewelery when baby comes. Babies like shiny glossy things and like to pull on them.
