Do you think this weekend is to early to go apple picking??
Just looking for some ideas of things that we can do with DD this weekend

I am hoping to go next Saturday. I never know the right time to go. We usually get out there end of September-Colombus Day weekend and the apples are all over the floor and not really on the trees.
When is the perfect weekend to go apple picking?

Depends where you go.
We're going up to Warwick and I called a few orchards and they seem to have Mac and one other variety available for picking starting on Friday.
But prime apple picking season starts more towards mid September. We'll be going back up again around the 20th for better varieties.

I just went on LEWINS website and they are open for apple picking starting this weekend...so we will see.

It depends on where you go - some places have diff types of apples that come out at all diff times
I called a few places on the island and they will be open mid Sept with the apple types they grow.

There might be some picking already but I would call the orchard and just find out what's available.

ITA. I had heard a news report that many farms had picked much of the fruit before Hurricane Irene, to alleviate some of the weight of the trees, so that may affect what is available right now.
