Re: Do you think you'll be working 20 years from now

I will be. I'll only be 53 then, and I don't think I'm eligible to retire at that point.
Once I can retire though....my dream is to stop teaching and open up a bakery so I can bake cupcakes and decorate cakes allllll day long.Chat Icon

I'll be 50, and I hope I'm still working! I think the soonest I would retire is 55.

I work for the state and I think the earliest eligibility is 55. Later than that will depend on the state of social security--I'm not positive there will be any left by the time I retire!

Probably the same here...although I would loe to retire in 20 years....I would only be in my mid-40's.

I just hope if we dont move out of state that I am still working for the same company. I loe the people I work for and they have great benefits and a decent pension plan.

nope, I'll still be well under 60.... and since DH is 10 years younger, it would be super-wierd for me to be an AARP retiree while he's in his late 40's and in the prime of his life and career!

Re: Do you think you'll be working 20 years from now

We need a semi-retirement choice.

I think alot of us will not completely retire but stop working fulltime so we can pursue part-time work, self-employment like opening a small business

At 45 I'll love to be able to stop the 9-5 grind and work part-time just for spending money.

Re: Do you think you'll be working 20 years from now

Absolutely, unless, god forbid, health reasons don't permit me. My main goal is to pay for my DS's college so he won't have loans. Considering he will be in college in 20 years, i can almost guarantee i will still be working.

Re: Do you think you'll be working 20 years from now

yup--i'll only be about 49--DEFINITELY still working.

dh however will have been eligible to retire at that point from his job with a pension...so who knows if he'll still be working and want to retire.

Re: Do you think you'll be working 20 years from now

I will be 61 and I will definitely be working.

SS won't be there. By then I hope to have enough retirement savings to do so but I know I will always work doing something.

I will be 53. Right now, I'm a SAHM.
We want to have more children.
Once they are all in school,, I will be back out working.
So, yes, I will most likely be working.
