I will only be 45. God willing I will be working until at least my mid 60s. I have no problem with this because with my current job I can take off months at a time of paid vacation so I can still enjoy my golden years.

I'll be 50 and will be able to retire but I won't be able to collect a pension at that time, so yes, I'll be working.

In 20 years I will have 28 years as a NYC teacher and will definitely be eligible to retire, though I would not be able to collect my pension for another 3 years after that. It will depend on what my financial situation is at that point.

I'll be too young to retire and being that I either don't work or work a lot less now to be a mom I will probably try to make up for it later in life. Not to mention teenagers, cars, college, weddings, etc. Chat Icon
I don't think I'll mind though. I would much rather be home now than when my kids are grown.

I am doubtful that DH or I would be able to retire (unless our health dictates otherwise)

Yes, 20 years from now I will be 50. I have come to terms with the possibilty of not being able to retire. Hopefully that will change.

I will have taught for 30 years and will be eligible to retire (in fact, I will be eligible at 50) but who knows if I'll be able to? I have not looked at my retirement accounts- I am sure that they aren't what they used to be.

Im a SAHM but if I did work out of the home, I would not be working in 20 years. DH will not be working in 20 years either. We will be 49 and 51.

Re: Do you think you'll be working 20 years from now

With the way things are going now I will be working another 40 years. My Social Security will rely on the teens of today and the way I see them mooching off parents and not getting out there to work I might be working til I die.
