I was wondering what your neighborhood has been like this holiday season.

Are there lots of lights up on houses or have you noticed that not as many people have decorated?

In my area (Queens), hardly anyone has decorated. Houses that usually go all out, have done nothing. Block after block are dark. I just spoke to my dad. He drives from Flushing to Purchase every day and he said the same thing.

I was wondering if this was all over this year or just coincidence. Its kind of depressing and I am just wondering if there is any reasoning behind it?

Yes, I have noticed in the past few years my old neighborhood in Queens, less houses are decorated.
But I think that is because the people who have moved in do not celebrate Christmas.

More of my neighbors decorated. When we moved here we were the first to decorate on our side of the block (it's divide by another road) now all but two houses on our block are decorated.

I think its more in my neighborhood but I believe it is because we have so many new homeowners, they are mostly young couples or young families. Before we had lots of seniors that didn't even live here year round.
In massapaequa by my office those blowup things are everywhere, like 3 to a house.

DH & I were just saying last night that there is less in our neighborhood this year. Usually my neighbors go all out & this year not a light is up.

I live in an apartment complex and have noticed MORE this year. A lot of people have those damn blowup snowmen on their terraces, it actually looks quite dumb. But to each his own.Chat Icon
