Doc just called and said I tested in the Grey Area for Fragile X
He said to call Madonna Services to schedule genetic testing.
Im only 8 weeks.
They didnt test for this when I was pregnant with my son and he came out fine
He said if the baby is a girl there is no issue but if its a boy there is a potential issue
Has this happened to anyone else?
Im freaking out
TIA

I recall reading this recently and all was OK in the grey area. I will try to remember who the poster was for you!
ETA: found it... was on FB. tagged your name to it.

Re: Doc just called and said I tested in the Grey Area for Fragile X
I am currently going through IVF because I tested 4 numbers above the gray zone. All have researched says gray is "ok", not great but the risk of the mutation increasing is not as great.
FM me for more info!

Re: Doc just called and said I tested in the Grey Area for Fragile X
I tested in the gray zone. The OB told me that there is a 0% chance of my DD being affected, but if and when she has children (my future grandchildren), they might be. He recommended I go for genetic testing. I decided not to do it while I was still pg, since my was 100% okay. I figured why worry myself over what might happen 30 years from now; I was worrying enough about everything else.
I will go for genetic testing soon, and have her tested too so I can give her this vital info when she's older. But while I was pg, I just put it out of my mind.
Hope everything turns out okay for you.

same. I went to Madonna though and just met with someone about the exact chances and got some more info on the disease. What I got out of it is that you really don't need to worry with a number in the grey zone, except to let your daughter know that she should be tested when she has children, because her numbers could increase enough so that her son could be a carrier (and not just in the grey zone.)
I was really freaked out as well but it made me feel a lot better to meet with someone to get the facts (and not just google things like I was doing, which made me even more nervous!!)
Good luck! FM me with any questions.

Re: Doc just called and said I tested in the Grey Area for Fragile X
Do a search under my SN for Fragile X. I tested in the grey zone, I dont remember my # but if you find my post I put alot of info in there that I rec'd from the genetic counselor at North Shore Genetics. She was great.
Basically my # was about 1 or 2 over the norm. I foudn out I had ZERO percent chance of my DS having any issues. THere has never been a case where a woman with my # had a child with Fragile X.
The issue with girls that isnt an issue with boys however is they are unsure how this gene continues to mutate. So while your DD might have no issues, its a conversation you will want to have with her when she is of child bearing age because she could pass it on etc. With a boy, the # they have is the # they pass on.
GL! PS DONT GOOGLE! No good ever comes from it!!!
