Doc visit today
Nothing earth shattering. I had bloods drawn for the AFP. Asked a ton of questions. Reviewed the Ultrascreen results with the doc who confirmed my chances for having a child with DS went down placing me at the same risk of someone who is 34 (and not 37 like I actually am - 38 at the time of delivery). He also settled my fears about rate of m/cs after amnio (which I am doing next week) and assured me they are highly skilled.
I can highlight my hair - woo hoo. My cramping is normal - woo-hoo. My corpus luteum cyst is fine - woo hoo. He rolled his eyes at my navel piercing which was amusing.
But perhaps the best news of all was when the OB said I am not destined for c-section because of my severe cervical stenosis - at least not at this point anyway. His thoughts were that since I already had an abdominal surgery, they would actually prefer for me to deliver vaginally and not cut me open again. Honestly, I wouldnt have minded a c-section if thats what I was told was safest for me and the baby and I am pretty sure Ill use an epidural, but its nice to know I have options.
Oh and I got to see Les-ward/Ed-lie again with his/her strong heartbeat:
I also popped my head into the office of my usual GYN who no longer delivers babies and doesnt see women past the first trimester. I told him I was still P-O'd that he couldn't hold out for me to get PG and made him promise he would visit me when he does rounds after I deliver.

Yes we will find out as humanly possible. The amnio will tell us, but hopefully the perinatologist who runs the sonogram machine while my OB/GYN does the amnio will be able to see something. If not, I was told I will know within 7-10 days of the test. Im dying over here - MAJOR planning to do!!!

Great news all around. Don't put too much stock in the AFP results - it has more false positives than any other screening test out there. So much so that we skipped it altogether and went straight for the amnio.
If I had to take a guess on that sono pic, I'd say I got my wish.

Thank you. This whole things is very surreal to me. Even with every bit of good news, I have a hard time believing everything is and will be ok. I have to focus and refocus every day and do a boat load of positive self talk.

I can imagine! You must have to pinch yourself daily. We are all here for you!! I can't wait for him/her to get here!
