Doctor / Hospital Rec.. Stony Brook/Huntington?

Hello, I need to find a new doctor and I'm not sure where to start..

I'm somewhat near to both Huntington Hospital & St. Catherine's.. and I could conceivably go to Southside or Stony Brook too (it would be a bit more of a drive, but I would if it's worth the drive).

Can you recommend an OB you love? What hospital are they affiliated with? Any reasons I should lean toward or stay away from any of those hospitals?

Thank you!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Anyone?

Should I lean towards Huntington if it's a bit closer or is Stony Brook worth being further away?

I use Dr. Callan she has an office in Huntington and commack - very friendly and very honest about her own experiences too - she delivers at Huntington

If you want your own room after he baby is born and don't want to pay then stonybrook is better - all singles
huntignton is mostly double and a few singles that you have to pay extra for - not sure when the construction at Huntington will start to change that

I second Dr. Callan and her associates. (I see Dr. Schneider in her office, but have also seen Callan a couple of times and realy liked her.)

I go to WGM Wagner/Goldman in Huntington. I LOVE them.
Wagner is super nice, very personable and puts you right at ease.
Goldman is very efficient and takes his time, therefore his wait time can be a little long, but he is thorough.

I also really loved delivering at Huntington, the nurses are absolutely amazing. I was there 3 days and did not get a roommate.

SB has a brand new maternity ward and you do get your own room no matter what, so that is definitely a bonus.

Good luck!

I used this practice with my DS. I switched at the very end of my pregnancy because of some complications (pregnancy induced high blood pressure with the fear of it turning into pre eclempsia).

Dr. Wagner is some nice eye candy and always smells good Chat Icon Chat Icon Great personality and bedside manner. Pretty laid back and makes you feel comfortable.

Dr. Goldman is who actually wound up delivering DS. After a very long, pain med free labor, I wound up with a c-section. Dr. Goldman is well educated, thorough, and also has a decent bedside manner.

Overall, I don't think you would be disappointed with either. My biggest piece of advice is get all early appointments. They do have a tendency of running late on the appointments. The later in the day, the larger the risk you run of having to wait.

I delivered at Huntington and overall was happy with my experience.

I use them too. Both drs are pretty good. They are good at putting you at ease -I say that as someone who hates going to the dr and just drs. The office staff leaves a lot to be desired though. The nurses are all right- one I love. I find the wait to be average aka long but not horrendous. That is the bet part of taking the glucose test - not a long wait Chat Icon I also love the sono tech they use.

I have heard great things about Huntington. That is where I chose to deliver - chose the hospital, then the dr lol

P.S. I try not to think of drs as being cute or whatever - I am nervous enough without any of that. But neither are bad looking lol!!
