DOE Teachers!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/25 Update at end
Just got an email from Randi- we got the two days before Labor Day back- we now report the Tuesday after.
Hope it's not a hoax.

wait our pd was to be the days before labor day and to set up. The kids were coming back on 9/8 to begin with so do they report later in the week?

according to the Daily News:
In exchange for the givebacks, all teachers will get two extra days' summer vacation and will not have to report for class until after Labor Day. The retirement age will remain 55.

2009/10 calendar
Now we don't go back till the 8th. Originally we had to go back the third. Laboer day is the 7th this year.

I always hated coming in those two days before labor day. It was so useless!! It's not a good deal for the teachers that will be hired in the future, though.

That is not true. The kids last day is June 25th (Friday) and we have to report back only on the following Monday, but this has nothing to do with the 2 days that we just got back. According to one of my AP's the Cancellor found out about the 2 days we just got back at the same time we did, so they are not accounted for in the 2009-2010 calender.

So I heard from my UFT rep, we don't go back until the 8th. Whether we choose to go in before is up to us. Our schools can in on per session pay...SO BASICALLY..we are not required to go in for pd days but we will have to go in anyways to set up
