Does anybody know anybody who is deployed and will not be home for the holidays?
My brother is. He is in the Navy and left for the Persian Gulf last week until June!!! He is stationed in Florida so I wouldn't have seen him for the holidays anyway, but it is sad knowing he will be by himself and away from his wife.
Anyway, please pray for his safety and for all those who are our defending our country!

DH is not deployed but he's a merchant mariner and will be at sea for christmas, DD's first christmas

Yes...my BIL is currently serving in Iraq and will not be home for the holidays this year.
I pray for him and ALL our service men and women!!

Not this year.  But speaking as a military wife, your brother and his wife can totally use your support...keep in touch with him, even if its just to let him know the everyday things you're up to and make sure your SIL knows you're thinking about her and that you care about them. This will mean so much to them, holiday or not!

My 24 year old brother has been in Baghdad since earlier this year. It will be the first Christmas away from his little boys...they're 6 and 2 and miss him so much.

oh yeah. My friend (formerly army, now a contractor) is going to be away for the holidays AGAIN. She hasn't been home much since we invaded iraq. She basically has been home a couple months or so for the last several years

Yes. My future BIL is in Korea right now. He is set to come home Jan. 1. But will then be sent to Afghanistan shortly after. This will be a very hard Christmas for my SIL.

My BIL is in Iraq for the holidays. He will be deployed 18 months as a Captain in the US Army. He was in Iraq for 24 months 2 years ago so i don't feel it is fair. My poor sister is living in Germany alone, but she will be home for the holidays. My heart just breaks for her. All she wants to do is have babies and start their family!
We send him funny DVD's from Amazon to keep a smile on his face
I just pray A LOT!

I am sorry you are going through this. I did with my DH when he was in Iraq for Christmas two years ago. I choose not to celebrate the holidays until he got home and was able to celebrate with us. I sent him and his friends a big box of "gifts" and tried to make it as good for him as possible.
