does anyone else do this...especially moms who nurse (if there is a difference)
I nurse Luce to sleep every night.
he nurses/snuggles on my lap and when he's really knocked out, I'll put him in the crib.
he CAN fall asleep other ways, but this is generally his preferred way to fall asleep.
is this bad? setting up a bad precedent?
he will nap in his swing during the day with his pacifier...it just occurred to me that as he gets older this may not be the ideal way to put him down...

I don't BF, but with Tyler, I feed him his last bottle swaddled, and he falls asleep while drinking it. Then I give him the paci and put him in his crib.
This is my most favorite time of day with him because the house is quiet (meaning, Jack is in his crib) and I get a few minutes to just sit and stare at him with no interruptions. I love watching how peaceful he is right before bed.
I don't think it's setting up a bad habit at all - and if it does for some reason, I will deal with it when the time comes. For now, I just enjoy it!

I did the exact same thing until DD was about 5-6 months old. Then I would nurse her and she would still be awake, and I would rock her to sleep.

I did this also till she was about 6 months and was all worried she would never fall asleep on her own. at 6 months I would start to let her cry when I'd put her down for naps etc and after a few times she learned to fall asleep on her own. So I wouldnt worry about it for a while.

This is what I do too. Every night I nurse DD to sleep and once I see she's pretty much out I lift her so she's laying straight on me. I just smell and kiss her head for a few minutes (sometimes half an hour) while rocking her and then put her down in her crib. *I* love doing it this way and I don't care if it's "bad"... I won't stop.

I know!! I love it too...so much so that on the rare occassion someone else puts him to sleep I am unbelievably sad
but I also don't want to have him suffer later on for things I do today...you know. I don't want such a beautiful thing become a disaster for both of us later on.
I think too much.

DH put Sienna to bed for the first time on friday night b/c I went out and I missed it so much! She went right down for him but I couldn't stop thinking about her around her bed time.
I don't worry about it at all, there's no other way i'd want to do bedtime.

I nursed DS to sleep for a while, but eventually (maybe by 6 months?) he was able to fall asleep on his own.

Hi! call me Disaster!
but honestly, mine was a horror. only napped on me for the first 8 months. never liked swing or anything.
At 18 mos, still nursed to sleep.
He is a lovely child now. Wonderful. So low maintence, so cool. But, he still doesn't go to bed without being transfered.

I rock DD to bed everynight when I give her the night bottle. I do not care if it is "bad" it is my favorite part of the day. I love how she cuddles up in my arms. There have been nights when we are out and I give her the night bottle and put her right down. She has no problem with the transitioning.

I do the same thing for bedtime and most naps and DS is 6 months old. He will fall asleep other ways and with other people, so I'm not too worried about creating a bad habit. He's only this little once and I want to cherish every minute of it. Recently, on occasion, if he doesn't fall asleep while he's eating, he gets restless while I rock him and would rather fall asleep in his crib with me rubbing his back. The first night this happened I teared up putting him to sleep this way.

I don't nurse, but I put DD to bed this way. i feed her and then snuggle and rock her. I hate when I miss bedtime. I feel like i'm missing out on my favorite part of the day.

I nurse my little guy to sleep, I never heard of it being "bad" creating bad habits. Honestly wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: does anyone else do this...especially moms who nurse (if there is a difference)
I do this. DS falls asleep on me when he is done nursing. I let him lay on me for a little bit until I know he is sound asleep and then I transfer him to his bouncy seat for the night. I also find that when he eats right before he goes to sleep for teh night he sleeps so much longer. I also do this with him for naps. I love when he falls asleep on me.
He is able to fall asleep when DH and other people hold him or rock him so Im not too worried about it. As a pp said, they are only this little once, so I want to enjoy this for as long as I can.
