Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
The first few weeks of my pregnancy, we didn't have a stove/oven. I ate microwave meals from about week 4 to 8 Aside from it being totally gross, I was also worried about what it was doing to my baby But I'm 13+4 now and everything's looking good. Like someone else mentioned, the baby will take what it needs from you, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
I was reading some pregnancy article and it said something like "You would ASSUME every pregnant woman would eat nutritious meals every day..." and I started cursing, knowing that it was written by a man!
Seriously, eat what you feel like eating! I just am trying not to eat TOO much bad stuff, knowing that I'll have to drop the lbs. after arrives. Other than that, everything in moderation! And the vitamins I am not getting, I am sure the prenatals are taking care of.

It does balance out. I was the same way in my first Tri my poor husband had to deal with Pizza every single day for 10 weeks straight to the point that he had to have his own dinner because he could not look at pizza anymore!! LOL French fries were a big hit also but now at 19 weeks I have cut back on alot of the bad stuff.
I was on the pizza kick for several weeks. That is all I wanted for lunch and dinner. DH does not want to look at another slice of pizza until the baby is born. Now I am craving bagels for breakfast. I always feel guilty, and sometimes I try to eat better. But I can never stomach the healthy foods, and always go back to the stuff that I crave.

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
I am 18 weeks and enormous.. I want to lie and tell people I am 6mos instead of 4 1/2.. I am so upset with myself.. its all my fault.. I choose carbs all the time.. My OB did warn me the last visit I should eat more veggies and protien. He said I should only be gaining 3lbs per month.. I am way ahead of myself.. I know I am supposed to be grateful but I really cant stand myself.. so far today i had Grits w/olivio butter. very tiny bit.. I hope now I can do protein and veggies for the rest of the day.. Its so hard.. My intensions are good but it always takes a turn for the worst.. I can relate to you very much..

Nah - healthy babies are born to drug addicts and alcoholics every day ........ Not that I'm going to go out and get myself wasted - but in comparison, I don't think a sugar overload here and there is going to hurt anyone ..... Unless you have GD !!! -

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
I felt guilty in the beginning, but my OB is fine with my gain (I'm having twins, so I have a bit more leeway than a singleton pregnancy). I make sure I eat veggies every day and keep up my water intake, prenatals and iron supplement. I"m on bedrest, so I've been snacking a bit more than usual, but I agree with an above poster who said that it all balances out. Try not to beat yourself up too much!

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
Dont feel guilty, as long as you are taking your vitamins you are fine with what you are eating.
Seriously I am surprised my son didnt come o ut lookign like a hot dog or a slice of pizza. I also craved carbs...the only bad thing that came from it was having to lose the weight after DS was born.
As a PP said they baby gets first crack at everythign you eat he/she takes what she wants to make a healthy baby, and than your body takes all the left overs...so I am sure your baby is fine!

I didnt see in your post how far along you are.... I wouldnt feel bad. I at enothing but MCDonald's for about 5 weeks straight for lunch and dinner when I was 1st tri. Carbs and fried foods were my friend.
Sometime even now I wish I ate more nutritional foods but I try not to get myself down on what I eat. I am just trying to survive to week 40.
I'm 18 weeks now. Yes it's all about carbs!!! That's all I want EVER. Carbs....chocolate...candy...cookies. At least I love fruit but that's about it. And at least I do go for some good carbs like oatmeal, and whole grain bread...
tara you sound exactly like me! my whole pregnancy, i could only eat carbs. it was terrible - the idea of any kind of protein made me sooo nauseous!
i did gain 40 lbs but you know what? it was so worth it - every single pound - because i now have a very healthy, happy little boy, and i don't give a cr@p what i look like now

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
I destroyed an entire container of Edy's Dibs ice cream snacks at 5am the other day. I try to watch what I eat, but in the end what I WANT to eat usually wins out. Im 17 weeks and I've only gained 4 pounds so far...I do eat ALOT of fruit, veggies are still iffy for me. (Does cream of broccoli soup count?) My new craving is orange juice.

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
aww, Tara, you are too cute! i too felt that i could have eaten way more veggies! there were plenty of times where i could have had the healthier option but ended up with loads of carbs instead...
dont beat yourself up. eat what you like and try to sneak in a few healthy items like almonds, carrots, etc. my mom ate ice cream sundaes everyday when she was pregnant with me and my bro.... im sure there were much healthier choices she could have made but gave in to her guilty pleasures...
im fine, my brother is fine! we are all fine! eat what you like!

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
Well, your kinda lucky in a way...i sit here and end up feeling like a fat cow when I splurge...which isn't healthy mentally !!! I can't even enjoy the good stuff w/o feeling overwhelming guilt (meaning b/c of having weight issues... not even about it being bad for the baby)! Your lucky you don't have that!! Are you taking your vitamins?? I'm sure the baby is fine !!

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
I have been forcing myself to eat fruits and veggies...all I want to do is go through the drive through of mcdonald's 24/7. Carbs are my BFF right now. It soothes my nausea and I love them! I think do what you have to do at this point and worry later. You aren't eating soft cheeses or raw seafood, your eating different than what you would normally but still the foods you are eating don't sound all that bad for the baby...maybe I am wrong Ok maybe fries aren't the best thing but yummmmmmmmmm they are so good! lol

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
Yesterday I had a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, two english muffins for lunch and mac & cheese for dinner ... talk about carbs!!!
Right now (13w), it's really all I want (which is not much different than my normal food wants - I've always been a carb wh*re!!).
And I do feel a little bad and just hope this will pass and I'll be able to add more nutritional things in the future. But for now, I'd like to continue not puking!

Re: Does anyone else feel guilty about the way they eat?
Well girls...I guess it does change every day and it does balance itself out. Today I actually had a veggie burger, veggies and organic mac and cheese! No pancakes for dinner! Somehow I could stomach it today. Interesting. But I MUST admit...driving home from work I was soooo tempted to go through the Wendy's drive-thru.
