Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
I love this time of year, and I get not all do
I don't expect people to walk around caroling with silver bells lol..
But Idk if it's bc of the election but I feel like everyone is in a bad mood
Everyone hates Christmas and parties and presents and snow )yea I get hating a storm but 2 inches and people wanted to die)
Idk. I feel like years ago even if things were not so good this time of year made everyone just feel good
It's bumming me out!

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
I think people just get stressed out with all they have to do and it always seems like so little time.
And is it me, or did the span between Thanksgiving and Christmas seem shorter this year? Like did Thanksgiving fall late? Or is it how the weeks fall? I feel like I got gyped out of a week between Thanksgiving and Christmas somehow, and I'm really feeling it for some reason.
I'm so not even close to ready.
But for the record, the snow on Saturday didn't even phase me. Because it was over before it started and turned to rain really quick. So messy, yes, but nothing to freak about- and I HATE snow!

Yep, I don't know what it is, but I've spoken to a couple of people who said they didn't even feel like putting a tree up and couldn't say why. They just didn't "feel it".

yes! I feel like everyone is in a bad mood this year. I do feel like we lost a week somehow like Nell said though.
I hate snow - but that didn't phase me bc it was gone by the afternoon really...
but I can get on board with - something has felt off this year for sure. But I am determined to make it "normal" and happy! no bah humbug for me!

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
I don't know about everyone else, but I am in the absolute WORST MOOD. Have been for days. I'm actually starting to feel bad about how much I'm yelling at everyone in my house, and I usually don't reach that point.
But I'm exhausted, I have a migraine, I haven't finished shopping yet, my DD isn't feeling well and probably needs to go to the doctor, my house is a mess, I work 45+ hours a week and commute 1.5 hours each way, I'm hosting Christmas but will be at my inlaws until midnight on Christmas Eve... plus all my other stuff. It makes me cranky.

I think the fact that Christmas is on a Sunday makes it seem shorter this year - since I think there is usually an extra weekend in there (or it seems that way )
We got like 5 inches of snow and it screwed up some of the things I had planned to do that day (mainly because DH couldn't get home from work so I could do them).
ETA - I had taken DS 2 to an indoor play place at the mall and it was crowded when I left so I figured I'd hit the supermarket.
OMG - it sucked any holiday spirit out of me. People were screaming at each other in the parking lot and nobody was the least bit patient... And people were shopping as families - 2 adults, multiple kids, multiple cars - and had to stay together... It was a disaster.

In my social circle, friends are still upset about the election results. 1 PR firm cancelled their holiday party because of Trump's win.

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
Everyone around me has gotten sick- we've all gotten knocked on our asses with this HORRIBLE stomach virus and it's put everyone behind. I got my tree over a week ago and still haven't finished decorating it. So everyone is a little grouchy because they're not where they hoped to be with cleaning, decorating, wrapping, and general prepping.

Yes i feel this way. I dont feel like doing anything - everything is a chore. Thats why I posted the other day that i wish the holiday season went into January so i had more time and more FUN doing everything instead of feeling rushed and obligated. Im also dealing with trying to get along with a very moody teenage DD! But i feel irritable too!
I made cookies a couple of times. DD wanted to make chocolate bark with me and her sister but i said no had to much to do this weekend. I shopped online but still have to pick up some things
My dad passed this summer and im a single mom struggling to fit everything in every other weekend plus the usual responsibilities that fall on me. I just feel like sleeping to avoid everything i have to or want to do
Its definitely worse this year Maybe cause of election too
I also feel guilt because of all of the above. Like remember to feel blessed instead of stressed! But sometimes its not easy!

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
PP used the best word to describe how I feel about the holidays ... obligated.
This is the reason I am a total grinch about this time of year. Everything is so forced. When things arent fluid and natural, I get tense and wish the days away. Still buying some adults in my life Christmas presents and I find it to be absolutely ridiculous. This is why I like thanksgiving the best. Other then family bugging me about travel.. there are no gifts, no forced interaction. Christmas.. it's a shit show and I wish it would go away
BUT i don't fault people for loving it. Especially those with small children.

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
We are still grieving the loss of loved ones so the holidays were just seeming depressing. Soooo my bright idea was to overschedule "fun" festive activities... kinda like a "you WILL have fun DAMNIT!" thing Well all its gotten us is tired and stressed because we now haven't gotten anything we need to get done done! And the running around balancing families this weekend is stressing us out too!

I think people are just on edge right now and stressed with everything going on, plus the holidays are already always stressful every year as is. This year more so.

Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
A little bit but I think sometimes we confuse people's stress or preoccupation with annoyance. I went to target yesterday (big mistake bc it was mobbed). I realized my cart was blocking someone and I thought the woman was complaining to her husband as I moved it bc she was pointing at my cart and whispering to him. I was annoyed since I noticed quickly and there really wasn't anywhere to move. They laughed as they went by and thanked me for reminding them they needed toilet paper and we joked together before they passed. I was glad they said something bc otherwise I really would have taken it totally wrong.

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
Yeah, lots of people around me are cranky.
I did my shopping online and wrapped and shipped things so I'm sittin back with my Sam Adams winter variety pack chillin like a villain
The election does have me twisted but on the advice of my doctor, I took a step back from consuming as much news as I was. I've found myself enjoying the season a lot, appreciating what I have and who I've surrounded myself with.

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
Also, not everyone enjoys this time of year.
People who have lost loved ones
People who have sick loved ones
People who have gone through rough break ups or divorces recently
People who are lonely with no plans or anyone to spend the holidays with
People with seasonal affective disorder - this time of year has so little daylight, I actually feel my mood get markedly worse from the second we change the clocks and it's dark at 430 pm
A lot of people with depression and anxiety feel it worse at the holidays- it's a proven fact That is why suicide rates tend to be higher at this time of year.
So sometimes you have to look at it from that perspective. While most people think it's all great and sleigh bells and gifts and cookies and hot chocolate, others find it to be a miserable time of year. They aren't being scrooges or grinches or debbie downers, it's just not easy for them

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
Normally this is my most favorite time of year, but with the death of my dad and this being the first without him, I can't get into the holidays. I'm trying my best for my kids, but towards everyone else, I'm a grouch. I flipped on my 80 year old aunt bc she complained I didn't send out Christmas cards yet, little did she know I already did and I guess hers got lost, but I was so not in the mood with this lady, and it's honestly awful of me but I still don't fully care either. So please try and show grace to people this time of year, it opened my eyes on why this can be an awful time for very many.

This is all very true. I went through chemo during the holidays and it was rough. Really rough. This year, a friend of mine that is also a young adult cancer patient is having a very, very hard time with the disease. But if you looked at her you would never ever guess she has cancer.
You really never know what a person is going through.

Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
I actually think everyone I saw in shops and the tree place this weekend were happy and friendly. I'm not in a bad mood, but I need another week or two to get ready for Christmas. Nothing has been easy this season. I tried to buy presents online, but things on my secret santa list are hard to find in stock, even plain ladies sweatsweatpants and team sweatshirts in the size I need. I mean, how many people buy women's sweatpants for christmas? I'm hoping my kids like what I bought for Christmas. I'm worried about where we're going to fit new stuff. I just got a stocking I ordered from pottery barn and it was supposed to be blank, but was monogrammed with somone else's name. Two of my kids today seem to have a stomach bug, probably from our well baby visit this weekend because sick kids are always in the well room. And the third is an infant who doesn't like to be put down. I'm waiting for some pictures we had taken with the baby to do our Christmas cards and didn't get them. No idea when I'll get them or if I'll like them. So, now I might have to go to picture people tomorow as a last resort. I think everyone is just trying to get their stuff done in time like I am and it can be overwhelming.

Re: Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
I'm just over it.
I'm exhausted, I am working so much and since I cover for someone I have to work next week while she takes off even though she has no time and I have 5 days that I am going to lose. But she has seniority
My ex is an ass, but that is every day of the year.
My SO's ex is an ass, but see above
I just feel like I have no time and it is supposed to be fun, but it's just....not.
ETA: My landlady is being a jerk about fixing our hot water! Forgot that one!
I generally try to not let the little things get to me, but they are right now. I need to get out of this funk

Does anyone else feel like everyone else is grouchy!
This frigid cold puts me in a grumpier mood but I don't think I'm necessarily in a bad mood.
This might be the first time I'm actually sort of enjoying the idea of Christmas. My mom and I usually fight every year at this time and we're not, DD1 is loving everything about Christmas- looking at lights on houses, watch Christmas themed shows and movies, seeing santa. I think my grinch heart is growing lol. But I could really enjoy it more if it was about 40 degrees warmer lol.

Completely overwhelmed Never like this, esp around the holidays, but because the kids need me (and supervision) so much more than ever, I seem to be able to get nothing done.
