I would love some words of encouragement from BTDT moms. Talia is not gaining weight (and believe me, she eats!) and the dr. seems concerned at this point.

Re: does anyone elses DC have a hard time gaining weight?
Ryan didnt gain much since his last visit 3 months ago either- However my Dr dosent seem concerned....
He is so active- that he is burning calories faster than he is eating them....
I know on "the charts he is in the 20% or less- however my Dr dosent follow it at all- and to be honest if it wasnt for me going home and looking it up- I wouldnt even know where he falls...
Like Talia Ryan eats- and I know that- and on the days he dosent feel like eating much- there is nothing I can do- I cant force feed him...
Every baby grows at their own pace- as long as she is healthy- thats all that matters

Re: does anyone elses DC have a hard time gaining weight?
I realize Ellie is much younger but I'm having the same problem. We had trouble with her not gaining when we first brought her home and we thought we took care of it but now at 6 mos again she lost weight since her last visit The Dr. wants me to feed her more food so I am but it makes me sad sometimes b/c I'm feeding her until she cries and its seems cruel. Plus I'm just worried about the issue all the time. All day every day I'm thinking did she eat enough, when do I need to feed again, etc. I'm so stressed over it. Ugh. I definitely know what you're going through. And since I'm having trouble I of course can't offer you advice, but I can offer you s

Have you tried adding calories to her meals that she does eat? (i.e. adding an instant breakfast to milk, adding parmesean cheese to veggies, add a whole egg to pancake mix or macaroni and cheese)

Miranda barely gains weight and she's always been this way. She's a terrible eater too. It's so hit or miss with her. So far they're not concerned because albeit slowly she's growing and she's meeting her milestones. No advice though because we haven't really don't much to address it except try to offer her a variety of foods.

Re: does anyone elses DC have a hard time gaining weight?
Not my kids but our friend's son has always had problems gaining weight (he's 5 now). He is small for his age & has been put on some shake supplement - Talia is probably too young for that. I can't remember when they started him on them. I do know that he's perfectly fine in every other aspect but is pretty small.
Our friends made the decision last year to hold him back mainly because of his height/weight. His birthday was in mid-November so they opted to start him in Kindgarten next year.
