Having a hard time
DS is going for his Upper GI tomorrow and I am really starting to get upset. I am having trouble with the fact that they strap him down. And this is probably all for nothing. A lot of people have been telling me this test is a waste of time b/c it shows nothing. I don't want him going through all that for nothing when I know something is wrong.
Also they need to take a stool sample. Does anyone know how they do this. I just read online on another website that they stick there finger in to get it? Is this true? They are not doing that to DS!

Any stool sample my child had to give was brought in. I'm sure he'll be providing his own sample if he's there long enough. Not a chance they stick their finger up there - maybe a cotton swab.
Hang in there - it's almost over...

If he doesn't go on his own while there, they will use a qtip to get a sample.
I am sure they are doing the GI test to try and see something, so I would nto worry about it being useless. If you trust your Dr then I would trust that s/he doens't want to put your son through any unnecessary stress.

Thank you. To top it all off I have to worry about him getting sick. Strep throat is going trough my sisters house and watches him. Thank God I have other family who is watching him this week. I am still nervous he will get sick b/c he was there on Monday.

I've brought dirty diapers with me for samples. One time I didn't b/c I didn't know they needed it and the dr stuck her rubbergloved finger in there! I really don't even think he noticed though!  For your DS

My DD had to have an endoscopy of the upper GI series, Im not sure if this is the same thing you are going for as well. But it was not as bad as I thought it would be. The hardest part was when they sedated her but after that it was smooth and she woke up not remembering anything and was fine to go home within an hour.
