Does anyone elses kid do this?

So my DD is 20 months and she does the strangest things. Is it possible for her to have ocd or could this be something else. She will not sit and play with a toy she insists on emptying out her toy box and piling eberything on mylap or on the couch. Also when she has her toys on the floor she likes to pile them on her little couch. I dont know if this could be add (which her dad has) Idk if it is hereditary. Does anyone elses kid do this? Any suggestions?

My son did that. It lasted maybe a week or two, then he went back to playing with them. He would empty all his toys and put them in the laundry basket or on his little chair.

Have you been teaching her to clean up?

Re: Does anyone elses kid do this?

This has been going on for months. She was always good at cleaning up her toys. i just wish i could get her to stop and sit down and play. We sit for 2 minutes with blocks or her little people house and after 2 minutes she has to take all the pieces and put them somewhere. I just dont get it.
Maybe she just isnt entertained with her toys. she will sit with a sticker book or her activity tables.

DD is 15 month and likes to pile her toys on me.

She's just learning to "put things in" instead of emptying everything and is also learning "clean up". She thinks it's hysterical if I kiss or pet her stuffed animals so they come first and then anything else within a 10 foot radius gets added on.

Anyone else have any suggestions to why she does this? Could this be a sign of autism or add?

Re: Does anyone elses kid do this?

does she engage in imaginative play? (talk on a phone, feed a doll, make animals play together and make noises, etc.)

does she sit and attend to books being read to her?

is she very active? is she verbal? good eye contact? interested in other children? what else does she like to do?

if you're really worried than talk to her dr..but the main thing you can do is just keep modeling appropriate play skills. Chat Icon

Re: Does anyone elses kid do this?

My DS is the same age and is BIG into this now. His new thing is while I'm making dinner to sit in front of the pantry and take out all the cans. Then he rearranges them on the shelf. Then he takes them all out again and tries to stack some towers. Then he reorganizes them all back onto the shelves. When we play with his little people noahs ark, all he wants to do lately is just take them out, line them up, and then put them all back in again. I think this is just a stage of understanding the relationships between things and experimenting with that.

Re: Does anyone elses kid do this?

She does do imaginative play./ she always talks on her play phone, she does her her little dog her snacks. She will sit and let me read to her and she will point out things in book. She makes animal sounds, tries to find birds in the sky. She will sit and color for a few minutes and she insits on taking out all her crayons and put them somewhere else. Her piling thing is really the only strang thing she does. I am hoping at Christmas when she gets some new toys she will be entertained again and she will play.

My nephew does weird things like that. When he plays with his cars he HAS to line them all up...bumper to bumper. He gets so annoyed if they get moved. He used to need his pancakes lining the edge of his plate to...one after the other.
