Does anyone get these questions at work?
I really love the people I work with but- a short explaination is that my husband used to work for my company before he went to law school so many of the people in my office know my husband and are friendly with him.
Well on a regular basis I get the when are you two finally going to have kids already. Especially from a few people who attended our wedding.
The thing is we are are starting next month but I don't want it getting around work b/c they have had people get pregnant then leave (I will have to keep working after so this is not an option) I don't want to have a hard time b.c they might think I will leave.
Does anyone else have co-workers and supervisors constantly asking when are the kids coming?

I think this is totally ignorant of people, especially when someone like me is asked. I have PCOS and I don't ovulate. People don't realize that when they ask this, they may be asking someone who is in fact TTC, but they are having problems. My standard reply is, "in a few years, or when it happens it happens".

get the question often...I have told them we are waiting a few years until I am oujt of school (I just started)..total lie, but gets them off my back, especially since it looks like I will have problems getting preggo.

Sometimes some of my co-workers will ask and I just simply say that right now we are not focusing on children as yet.

Re: Does anyone get these questions at work?
People at work wanted me to have kids BEFORE I was married which was something I could not and would not EVER do.
Now that I am married, people REALLY don't lay off. I know it is also because Im 36. What bothers me more is when they remind me how old I am.

Family, work, customers, even my niece and nephew. Everyday someone asks. I also get " well you have been togetherr 8 years, what are you waiting for?" thats my favorite, I havent told anyone we were winging it to avoid the daily questions and yet they still are asked.

Yeah I have PCOS too - but I feel less intrusive in that way than just it is uncomfortable when people do it in front of my bosses and the VP. I do just say "someday" and chance the topic.

Almost all the people I work with or either just engaged so I turn around and ask them back OR they all have older children or grandchildren.

Re: Does anyone get these questions at work?
Rarely I get asked. 2 of the woman I work with just became grandmothers (one woman is a first time grandmother and the other has 3) so they ask me sometimes when I am going to have my mom be a grand mother.
I just laugh and tell them one day but for now we're focusing on ourselves.
They usually leave me alone.

Re: Does anyone get these questions at work?
i actually have not gotten this question at work. but before we were married some would ask when i would have kids. several women in my office got married last year and there was always speculation as to who would be PG first. when i'd get asked i always answered august 5. the day after my wedding.

Re: Does anyone get these questions at work?
As a teacher, I don't get it too much from collegues, but the parents of the students will ask. I have heard rumors of myself that I was pregnant on more than one occasion. Parents panic that you are going to leave mid year on maternity and their kids will get another teacher. I hate getting asked!

Re: Does anyone get these questions at work?
i get asked all the time. It really doesn't bother me at all. I think thats how ppl think, you get married to have kids. Since you married.. they see that as next step.
I just answer, not soon :) So they don't speculate.

That is horrible!!!!! I would be my head too!
BTW I should say these are the same people who asked my husband at a party with my company (my company is a client of my husband's firm) if he planned on staying at the firm and when the kids were coming

Re: Does anyone get these questions at work?
Forget it! Not just co workers- but family, friends, accquatinances- even strangers. Especially when they hear how long I've been married. It drives me up wall! I feel like saying "it is NONE of your business!" I would NEVER ask that. So it bothers me so much when people have that kind of nerve. They aren't the ones raising my future kids and supporting them- so lay off!
