I would love to but I don't see how it would work for him...unless he was strapped into something which is an idea. He would NEVER sit in a time out spot.
I thought the same thing with my DS (who does the same thing) We have a little bench in a room and when he does something bad I give hime a warning and make sure he knows that if he continues to misbehave he gets a timeout. The first few times it seemed ineffective beceause he didn't really know what a time out was.
I walk him into his room and sit him on the bench. I sit on the floor and explain to him what he did wrong and why. That when he doesn't listen he doesn't get to play. If he gets up, I sit him back down. I keep sitting him back down until he's sititng for 1 or 2 minutes. He did eventually give up and sit. I warn you, it took awhile. Then once he was done sitting I ask him to say sorry, we hug and we go play.
Like I said it takes a few times for them to understand. SO don't give up. Be consistent. Now I just say "go to your room" and he sits on his bench until I get him. He's 21 months.
As for the 2nd baby - there were days that poor Jack had to sit and cry while I dealth with hannah. Now it's the other way around. Hannah has to sit there and be ignored while I deal with Jack. There are days she sits in there with me showing him what to do and begging him to just sit so we can all play I will say they are now effective after alot of effort and they are less frequent. Now I just say, "do you want a timeout" he says no and 8 out 10 times he stops.

I don't "think" it's out of boredom but I guess I can't say for sure. I just think he's very stubborn.
I do things with him but I could def do more...it's been hard with the new baby.
