Does anyone have a garment steamer?

I am considering buying a garment steamer to steam curtains and table cloths. I find it really difficult to iron them on my small ironing board. Does anyone have a brand that they recommend. Do you know if there's a way to control the amount or temperature of the steam?

We got one as a bridal shower gift, just used it on some clothes yesterday.

We wanted it for the same reason, that darn small ironing board! Chat Icon

I haven't found a temp/steam control on it yet Chat Icon

Rowenta Commercial Garment Steamer

Its $149.99 at BBB, but temporarily out of stock there. I'm sure you could find it elsewhere though Chat Icon

Re: Does anyone have a garment steamer?

ummm omg you must have missed my "i'm in love with my garment steamer and considering leaving DH for it" post from a while back!!!! Chat Icon i freaking LOVE my garment steamer... i got it for my bridal shower b/c someone told me that it was a godsend - i didn't realize how RIGHT they were!!!

i have the brand that another poster mentioned above - the rowenta - and it is fantastic. my hose, somehow, had a little hole in it (i think my dog may have taken a bite out of it) and they sent me a new hose free of charge - no questions asked! they were great.

the steamer itself is amazing - in two minutes a blouse that was literally rolled up in a ball on the floor looks BRAND new! it is wonderful - you will find that you will use it for a lot more than just curtains, etc. you will NEVER iron again!

i highly recommend it - i did my entire wardrobe in literally 30 minutes! Chat Icon

I have something similar to the Rowenta that was posted. It's great for clothing/suits. The only negative I found is that it doesn't work well when you have to angle the hose/wand down...the steam doesn't rise, as a result, it's difficult to steam the bottom of drapes/curtains, table clothes and bed skirts when they're hanging. I've been considering getting a handheld steamer just for those items.

Can it be used for clothes that need to be ironed on low heat?

Does the tall metal rod fold down for storage?

I have a small hand held steamer by Joy Mangamo from HSN...works ok, but not great.
