Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
because their bdays are so close? Both of my boys are Aug babies (2 weeks apart). I wanted to have them seperate this year because it's the baby's frist bday but DH says no way...we are doing them together (we always have a backyard party with like 50+ people and kids). What can I do to make it special for my 1 yr old but yet still great for my 4 year old?
AND how can I invite my 4yr olds classmates but somehow only have them bring a gift for him and not the baby?

Re: Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
My DD and DS are both in June (plus my DH ) We are having one party - but it is just family. DS is turning 1 and DD is turning 3.
I plan on doing 2 cakes - one for each kiddie and making the theme more towards my son.
I would invite your old son's classmates as if the party were just for him - maybe different invites then everyone else? They won't bring a gift for the baby then and when you are singing/presents for the baby and they question it you can just explain.
I don't have that problem since we are just having about 20 ppl and they are all immediate family so they know the deal -it's our June Birthday extravaganza!

Re: Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
My kids are May 6th and May 9th and you better believe we do a combined party!! I've always celebrated the actual day of their birth with something special, so its not like they are losing out with the combined party. And like pp, we get them each a cake for them - this year my DD had a cake that looked like a purse and my DS's was a strawberry shortcake (his favorite).
We do just family, so I've never had kids invited, but if you invite classmates, just put that it's Logan's party on the invite.

Re: Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
I have 2 November babies and for Ava's second and Jack's first I did a party for them together. I had everyone come over on a Sunday and we did a NY Jets theme. We watched the game, hung out.....low key.
Since then I haven't done parties or anything. I just have my inlaws and parents come over on their actual b-day for cake. When they start school I'll have to do it separately as well b/c they'll have different friends.

Re: Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
Thank you for your responses. Now I don't feel so bad knowing other people do it too . I was thinking 2 cakes too. I may do a character and that would be more for my 1 year old but I'm not sure about it yet. Everyone invited is extended family and our good friends so they all know the deal. I want to have some of Logan's classmates and honestly they know the boys were born in the same month but I will make a different invite for them.
Any ideas on a theme that would be good for a 1 and 4yr old

Re: Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
My kids are 6 days apart in October, so we do combined family parties if we have a party. But since most of our family does not live nearby, we usually just celebrate their actually birthdays. when they are in school, they will be able to have their own parties.

Re: Does anyone have DCs bday parties together
My whole life has been joint b-day parties with my brother, we are exactly 1 month apart.....mom had the party on Labor Day weekend......
We always had separate cakes to make it special.....
