Weeknight toddler bday parties
What's the latest you would attend one? Is 5-6:30 too late do you think?
ETA, I'm looking for a weeknight as opposed to a weekend to have the party ON her actual birthday.

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
I don't think it's too late, but a couple of questions for you:
Will you serve food or just snacks? I'm just thinking it may be dinner time for some.
Are a lot of the parents working parents? Will they be able to get there in time?
Is it ok to bring their other children who aren't technically invited (if another parent or family member isn't home to watch those kids)?

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
Most of the people we know don't work, so that's not really an issue. I am more concerned if people think it's too late to have a toddler out at a party that runs until 6:30. I can't do their earlier time slot since DS wouldn't be home from school yet.
It would be at Chuck E Cheese so food would be served.

DS goes to bed at 7, but he is fine being up past his bedtime. I wouldn't have an issue with attending a party at that time during the weekday.

I think 5-6:30 is a perfect time!! You still have plenty of time to do a bath and get them into bed!! Also they will be totally worn out from all the fun!!!!!!!

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
I personally wouldn't be happy with a 5:30-6 weeknight start. But, that's just me. If it was a weekend that's another story - I don't know why since I don't work so I really have no reason why!
I would still go though if it was a close friend of mine or Jacks!

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
I really dont think its an issue at all. You are talking about 2 and up basically, right? I mean if we were talking infants and their nap schedules thats different. I would have no problem at all. We have a party in NJ this weekend starting at 7:30 and I totally think that is late BUT...I am going. Believe me your friends will show.

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
DS had a birthday party at My Gym and it was 5-6:30. I thought it was weird but I still went. They served pizza so at least I didn't have to worry about dinner for him.

If it was relatively close to home, I wouldn't have a problem. If I had to travel to Nassau, I would probably decline.

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
I have brought dd to parties like these but they are hard if anyone is a working parent...its a mad rush most likely for them...but since in your case it doesn't seem to matter, i say go for it!

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
Depends where it was. 5-5:30 is traffic time and I usually avoid driving in this time frame. DS is usually cranky by that time too but he might enjoy it also.

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
I don't see a problem with it at all. If it ended at around 8PM or so, then, I probably would have a problem since its pretty much bed time.

Re: Weeknight toddler bday parties
It wouldn't stop me from attending but I think i'd just assume that my son will probably be a little cranky but hope for the best. He's not at his best at 6pm.
