Does anyone have Oxford Freedom Plan, the high one?

I am trying to figure out where my prescriptions are supposed to be filled since my insurance has changed. When I called the medco line to see who I need to fill through they told me a compounded pharmacy and that I pay all out of pocket. I dont even know what that means and I don't think the guy had a clue what I was trying to say. All I wanted to know was if they went through a specific pharmacy, like freedom fertility like my last insurance. Does anyone have this insurance? Who do you fill with and do you have to cover 100% and get reimbursed later?
Thanks!!

I have Oxford Freedom through United Healthcare and we used Metro Drugs in midtown manhattan.

My plan covered all infertility treatments and meds up to $10k.

But I think what your insurance covers is based on the plan setup between the insurance company and your employer. So you and I can both have Oxford, but have very different levels of coverage.

I once had a high deductble plan with United Oxford where I was required to pay a 50% co-pay for brand name meds such as fertility meds. It went through medco and I ordered through Freedom Pharmacy. I paid Freedom the 50%...not sure if this is what you were looking for. Is your plan a high deductible one? If so..what percentage?

Your doc office puts it through freedom or whatever pharmacy you want and they deal directly with medco. however, sometimes you can get the meds from medco cheaper. Oxford should cover your meds. I have the 10/25/50 pharmacy plan and my meds don't cost me the high one (except Ovidrell...seemed no substitute for it and it was on $44 so I paid the exact price).

I find Oxford is great. Though, like PP said, it also all depends on your company's plan that they choose. But, I only have basic IF coverage, and it covers a lot. There's a rider for more advanced coverage but we can't get it because we are a small business. So, with just basic coverage I have to assume you will get a lot covered and Oxford also gets discounts on OOP too.

Good luck.

I have the advanced infertility with my plan. When I was with UHC I knew I wasn't able to fill at just any pharmacy I had to go through freedom so when I called I was looking to see if it was the same way, if I had to go through a specific pharmacy to make sure it would be covered. I was told I had to pay 100% out of pocket and then put in a claim. I never had to do it like this before so I am just confused on how it works. I guess I will just fill at freedom and see if they will cover it. I am just frustraded I guess, I thought I would be done with all of the wh en I got preggo but it didn't work out that way so I am just feeling down today about it.Chat Icon Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it!
