Does anyone have renters insurance?
I had insurance for our co-op. But, now we are renting and this building makes me nervous. I was called at work on Thursday for a leak in the bedroom...needless to say, I think I should have some insurance.....what's the skinny on insurance?

When I rented an apartment in 1999 I had State Farm and paid $70 for an entire year. It covered all of my stuff in a one bedroom apartment.

we do...its actually required by the complex as part of the rental agreement. What specifically do you want to know? We went thru allstate and pay about 150/yr

We used geico for under $200 a year. We moved out early and they sent us a check for the months we didnt use which we didnt expect. Pleaaaase get it-the apartment next door went on fire and we had a lot of smoke damage to our clothing, linens, and furniture. Cleaning was all compensated.

I rent and even then it is mandatory to have renters insurance. we even have to show proof of it to the housing. I think we pay like $180 for the yr, its def. worth it for peace of mind.. i used allstate and had a very good experience with them..

we have Geico for our car insurance so we called them and got renters insurance through them which they actually use Traveler's for. It's very cheap for the entire year, but definitely worth having. We also have my engagement ring insured through the renter's insurance.

When we lived in an Apt. this is what we used as well. I don't remember the premium we paid, but it was def. affordable.
We also took a video cam and videotaped our apt and all our possessions, so if we needed to do a claim for whatever reason, we had proof of what was ours. I had my wedding gown there before we were married, so I we took out extra insurance.

$300 per year through Liberty Mutual (also have our cars + vespa on that policy). Covers up to $25K.

Up to a certain amount depending on you policy. For instance we had to get a separate policy for my e-ring and wedding band because they were worth over a certain amount.
