You need to get them removed by laser. I don't know of any other way.

I have done sclerotherapy a few times, good results. Sclerotherapy is the "gold standard." Multiple injections of dilute sclerosant are injected into the abnormal surface veins of the leg.

What was the pain factor? Recovery time? Cost? I had asked my dermatologist about it and the cost seemed very high. Also, do you already have kids? My derm said that after I have kids the veins might come back.

Re: Does anyone have spider veins and how did you get rid of them?
i have them pretty bad on my legs too. It's hereditary for me They have gotten progressively worse over the years.
I've had multiple treatments done at a few different places, and although it did get rid of most of them, it does not stop more from coming back. I gave up for a while because I really couldn't handle the maintenance. You have to wear these granny style compression stockings for two weeks, and you cannot exercise or tan. Now would not be the best time to start this as it can take a few treatments to achieve the best results.
I am going to wait until after kids as well to get more treatments done, although it worries me that I won't be able to work out after pregnancy. Also, it can get pretty expensive and most insurances don't cover it.
My one suggestion would be to get yourself fitted for compression stockings and try to wear them whenever possible (i.e., at home, under pants, etc). This will help with the circulation in your legs which may help prevent more veins from poppin up.
Feel free to fm me if you want more info.

I've had it done 2x, once before kids and once after, and I have a few more in new spots, so I'll need it again. They run in my family and are something I will always battle.
It was painful. I would say it burned, you can feel it course into you vein in a very unpleasant way. It really hurt, but it was worth it to me. Cost, mine was covered so nothing to me. Recovery time, really nothing. Just wore tights under my pants for a week or so. (Both times I did it in the winter.) HTH!

Re: Does anyone have spider veins and how did you get rid of them?
It's hereditary for me too. My father has them and so now i do... I'm currently prego and they have gotten worse. I bought knee high compression stockings in which i wear 2 times a week (i really hate wearing them). I'm a teacher so when im on my feet a lot i wear them and they do help!
In the past ive had saline injections which work for a short period of time but i believe they came back. I also had surgery (laser) for the big blue veins and it looked good for awhile but im convinced they came back too. They have a sally hansen spray tan that can help cover some of the spider veins. It really does suck b/c i dont even wear shorts!!! it's very upsetting!
