Does anyone know if Dr orders you to stay home on bedrest does that count as disability?
I handed in all my paperwork to my job for disabillity and FMLA, but didnt put dates as at the time I didnt know when my last day was going to be. After my last Dr appt, he put me on bedrest, and I turned in a letter to my job.
I was wondering if this constitues as disability?
Will it effect my disability pay after I have the baby?

If you are physically unable to work as per a doctor, it should count towards disabiltiy.
And it should NOT affect your disability pay post partum because you will still be medically unable to work for the same amount of time.

I am on bedrest now. There is paperwork you will have to fill out along with your doctor and employer. In my case the first week I was out my job was generous to let me use sick time. After that it had to be STD and FMLA together so my gut answer is yes since it can affect the amount of weeks you will get disability pay from your company after you deliver. Each company is different-my mom's company has a generous program and they will pay up to like 6 mths salary.
i.e My friends company pays 8 weeks salary minus 170.00 from NY STD. She took 1 week before she delivered and her company paid her 1 week salary for before delivery and only 7 weeks after delivery. The additional 5 weeks she took were NYSTD 170.00.

However, it may affect your FMLA..... I am on bedrest as well...... the FMLA clock will start ticking on your first day of missed work (with most company's)............for me, I will lose the time after I deliver with the baby.....I will either have 6 or 8 weeks depending on how I deliver.......
Also, you do have to submit the paperwork appropriatin the DBL.

I am sure my FMLA clock has started ticking, and that's ok w/ me. I just wondered if I can get STD coverage for bedrest.

I was on bedrest with DD and my FMLA time (job protection) ticked away from the day i went on bedrest and continues to decline before and after baby is born.
Since I was only out on part time bed rest 1st, my job wouldn't pay be STD unless I went out full time bedrest first.
But even if did get STD before Gianna's birth, I would still have gotten my STD after her birth, 6-8 weeks.

You will be fine. FMLA is 12 weeks and STD is up to 26 weeks.
As for my check-I havent delivered but once my paperwork was approved the process took less than 2 weeks to get my first check. Now I get them every Sat.

Once you have that note from the doc, def check to see what their policy is.
My company all they needed was the note from the doc, and they sent me a STD package. When it came I filled out paperwork for FMLA, and STD. After DD was born all I had to do was call the 1800# and i got my check within 5 business days.
It can be so confusing!
I was so pizzed cause if I was able to lie(have doc put me on full bedrest, then take me off back onto partime, which he would have done for me) I could have gotten full STD pay for 14 weeks before DD was born, then another 6 weeks after instead of using my vacation time. Damn ethics i have!

I have been on disability ( for bedrest) since the end of Jan.
I was not eligible for FMLA or any STD at my job...all I got was NYS disability.
It took about 4 weeks to get my first check, but they sent all 4 at once for what was owed ...
Of course bedrest is disability....
Liek others said, find out your companys leave policy.
STD? LTD? NYS Disability? And if your eligable for FMLA. That will give you all the details.
