Does anyone know some one who had the lap band surgery?
A close friend of mine is considering it and I was curious as to what the recovery time is. She seems to think that she can have the surgery on Friday and be on her feet on Monday.

A friend of family had it done and apparently it is a quick recovery. So far she is also losing weight and doing real well.

One of my co-workers just did this. I'm not sure about exact recovery time for the surgery but I do know she was back at work within the month. So far she lost a lot of weight and looks great.

There was a surgeon who did them at the hospital where I used to work, and I'm a dietitian, so we saw all his patients.
Lap band is minimally invasive and pt's typically get discharged the morning after surgery. I think he said most people were back to work within 3-4 days.

with Lap band you can go back to work pretty quickly. Gastric bypass has a longer recovery time

Im not sure if you are in the area but Good Sam Hospital in West Islip has very good information meetings on Saturday mornings.

My gf had this done about 6 or so years ago and it changed her entire life! The recovery was very quick and easy for her. She has always told me that the hardest part for her and what she recommends that everyone does is to get therapy. She always felt that although she lost all this weight and became a new person, inside she was still the same overweight person. That was her biggest struggle. But she felt that it was a lifechanging event in her life and she has NEVER regretted having the procedure.
