does anyone live in the N. massapequa
area, but in the Farmindale school district? Or know anyone who lives there? I didn't realize part of N. mass was in that district. I guess my question is, are those schools comparable to the Massapequa/ or plainedge school dist?
TIA!
Feel free to FM me if you don't want to post where you live !

Re: does anyone live in the N. massapequa
I live in N. Massapequa, but plainedge schools
All houses i think north of the southern state and east of broadway are farmingdale schools
I think there was a post recently, and alot of people talked about how great farmingdale schools are. And how they are really improving every year. I dont think this should deter you from buying.
I live off of broadway but west so its a different district, but i LOVE my block, there is a house around the corner from me for sale, if you want to have the link i will send it. All my neighbors are so nice, and friendly.

Re: does anyone live in the N. massapequa
Farmingdale Schools are pretty good. I've heard a few things about the HS, but things are changing for the better.
However, the thing I noticed with Farmingdale school district in Massapequa is that the taxes tend to be much higher than the Massapequa zoned school district. Massapequa has the mall to help with the taxes, so it makes a difference. Just wanted to point that out in case taxes were an issue for you.

Re: does anyone live in the N. massapequa
I grew up in N. Massapequa and went to Farmingdale schools. I had a wonderful experience there. Actually, I am in the process of buying a house in Farmingdale and to be honest questioned the district and its reputation. I felt very comfortable after speaking with parents of students that I tudor who live in the district...they could not say enough wonderful things about the district and how it's really the high school that gets a bad rap. I wouldn't avoid looking at any of the houses with in the district. It doesn't hurt to ask around. Best of Luck

Re: does anyone live in the N. massapequa
I grew up in Massapequa Park but was in the Farmingdale School District. The HS definitely went through some a rough patch but it is getting so much and they are getting stricter (for example: my sister has her Jr. prom this year and all the students that wanted to go had to attend a meeting with at least one parent in order to actually attend the prom. If you didn't show up you couldn't go. At the meeting their was a cop, judge and attorney and they spoke about how to be safe and consequences, I think this is a great idea).

I think a lot of schools do that now. Massapequa HS has a mandatory prom meeting as well.

Re: does anyone live in the N. massapequa
There are some great areas of N. Massapequa. Some go to Farmingdale and some Plainedge schools.
There was a recent thread on Farmingdale schools so you can read that. I won't re-state my position but I teach in Farmingdale and it is a great district.
