DH does.. but he has a riding mower so it only takes him like 30 minutes. he also has good hours at work, and get home at a decent time every night, so its not like he works crazy hours and then has to come home and do it.
BUT we were talking today that next year we might hire somebody to do just a fall or spring clean up...we have a TON of trees on our property that drop EVERYWHERE and its such a pain raking them all up.  anybody know how much this costs??

I actually don't mind mowing the lawn.
I can get a tan and burn some calories all at the same time.

We did last year but my DH $ucked at it and works way to much to use our only day off together to mow the lawn. Landscapers are one of our best investments this year!!!!

Not here.
We have someone's husband on here owns a landscaping company. He does our lawn & is worth every cent.
Now I come home to a relaxed DH who just cooked dinner versus a frustrated sweaty guy who is ordering out pizza.
When my kids are old enough to mow lawns, it's their turn.

Nope! I'd rather gouge my eyes out--but that's mostly because I'm allergic to grass.

We don't. DH works long hours and I'm with DD all day....we like to enjoy the weekends and not have to "work" a lot around the house.

My DH- even though it only costs $40 a month for a gardener- it seemed silly when they were there for 10 minutes.

My DH really wants to but I talked him out of it. His work days are long and there are already so many projects that he has a tough time getting to and he barely has time for golf, which he loves. We have a neighbor who has to be in his 60s and he does his own lawn and has a beautiful garden and his is the best on the block. He also washes his cars a few times a week.

My husband does, and some old guy down the block does, but that's about it. Everyone else has a lawn service.
And no, they aren't cheap at all. We priced it out, but since I'm a SAHM this year, not now!

I do - it burns calories. I mow the lawn and my DH washed the dishes! My grandmother would die if she was alive to see this!

Our lawn is my DH's baby. He would never let anyone touch it. I will admit we have a beautiful lawn and it all his doing. Especially since we had the whole thing ripped apart when we had to get a new cesspool put in. Did it all himself no sod at all

I have a simple (and kinda silly ) rule of thumb when it comes to home improvements and maintenance.
I feel my time is worth $25 an hour so if I can find somebody to work for less than that, i'm paying someone else to do it.
What that means is, it would take me at least two hours to mow my lawn (especially with the edging). I think my time in general is worth at least $25 an hour. So this job would cost $50 bucks if I did it myself.
I can easily get someone to cut the lawn for $25-30. Since it costs almost half to pay someone to cut the lawn, they do it.
Now if I want to say change my heating thermostat to something digital which I just did, that would have cost me a good $200-300 to bring an electrician in. I was able to do this in two hours so I did it myself.
Basic lawn maintenance is so cheap, I think that's why you see so many trucks.

I completely agree. My husband has one day off a week (Sunday) and I would rather pay someone to mow & maintain our lawn then do it ourselves because that would be 2 less hours that we would get to spend together.

my Dad does. he says it relaxes him - he really enjoys the fresh air and excercise. plus he uses the grass clippings to feed his organic garden.
