a separate bank account from DH? Also, do you think it's better that way or having it all together?

my DH has 1 account under his name only. it doesn't have a lot of $$ in it. it's a bank for military and he uses it for his automatic car insurance payments.

I do. It's just a checking account for spending money & for when I get DH gifts & such. DH has his own account also. It works for us.

All financial matters are in my name only (both cars, mortgage, bank accounts, credit cards) because DH had a lot of trouble with credit in the past. We have 1 checking account that is joint, but I only transfer money to it 1x a week for his allowance. He doesn't have access to anything else (although I did give him a credit card which I watch like a hawk )

We both have seperate savings & checking and we also have a joint one.
There's no particular reason why...it just works out ok for both of us. We split bills like I pay some he pays others. The joint accounts have money in it that we rec'd from the wedding and pretty much act like it doesn't exist right now.
I'm sure once we buy a house we'll combine everything, but I refuse to let go of my CU account upstate, because the "deals", etc. are worth it.

I have mine.
He has his.
We have ours.

Over time the accounts will merge I suppose, but I think I will always have something of my own.

Years ago, when my father used to give my mother money for household things, she would take $100 here and there and stash it away so she could buy stuff without having to ask his permission. She called it her "bindle." Since he never asked for receipts or price tags, she was safe.

We each have our own checking/savings accounts, and then we also have a joint savings account. That's what works best for us.

We have joint savings and checking and each have our own checking account with a small amount in it for convenience (close to work) and I use mine for Amazon and Ebay deposits.

We still have separate accounts....it's been working for us so we don't see the need to change. I think it would cause some fights between us as far as how the money is spent....such as his $1100 car payment(that's without his insurance )

We have a joint checking and separate savings. It's just easier IMO.

everything is pretty much joint, except my stocks (ones I bought before marriage - too lazy to change it over), a savings account that has an IRA that was rolled over (again too lazy to figure out how to combine accounts - just easier to leave it) and an ING savings account, b/c they offered me $25...how could I not take free money?

DH has nothing individual and likes it that way - he'd rather that I take care of the money and bills

I still have a separated bank account but mainly because I have one small student loan that it attached to it. I don't really use it, although I do have some money in there that I put aside for us to use in emergencies. He does, however, have an extra ATM card to it in case he ever needs it. So I guess it's not completely separate, but the card is in my name.

i do, its my "allowance" and a small amoutn of each payropll is direct deposited in there and that is my money for lunch. gas,. etc for the week.

DH has his checking and savings accounts, I have 2 checking and one savings and then we have our joint acconts. A portion of each of our earnings goes into each account.

i have a seperate account - he doesnt keep track of what he is withdrawing and that makes me nuts i have to have my own account

I have my own checking and savings accounts and my husband has his own. We also have a joint checking and savings for bills and house stuff. With this set up, we never fight about money.
