does/did anybody's baby not sleep in their crib at 3 months?

I'm trying to get Maddie to sleep in her crib. She went from sleeping in the bouncy seat to sleeping in her car seat. I put her down for a nap in her crib, she cried (not really, it was more like a whine) for 3 minutes then fell asleep. Woke up for a few minutes, whined, and fell back to sleep. Is this considered CIO? I feel bad if it is, 'cause she is so young, but how else do I get her to sleep in the crib ?

ETA that she is such a light sleeper! I walked in to check on her and she got startled. I don't know how she heard me!

No thats not CIO in my opinion. Sounds like her just settling ....

I didn't put my dd in crib until almost 4m old. I never just put her in crib so not sure how she would react to that. At night she passes out in her swing or bouncy seat and then we just transfer into crib. Did you try doing that? Maybe once you do that a few nights shell get accustomed to sleeping in crib, and then you can just put her down in and wont cry.

DD didn't go to a crib until 6 months.

Only my oldest did at about 3 1/2 months...would start off in the crib and if and when she woke up then she slept with us. My second dd and my ds never did. We coslept until they were 2 and then they went into their own rooms in a twin bed.

Cailen did not sleep in anything "normal" until he was almost 5 mts! Before that it was the bouncy seat or swing!!!!

Well can I ask everybody, how old was dc when they rolled over? I'm afraid she won't roll because she's not on her back enough. I have her laying on a blanket on the floor right now.

To be honest with you - at her 3 month ped appointment the ped was not happy that she was still sleeping in her bouncy seat. He said it can affect their development since they can't move around, and in our case, she was sleeping so weird in her bouncy seat that we are in physical therapy twice a week for torticollis (looking back, I totally see it - even in my avatar pic, DD heavily tilts to one side).

Just from my own experience - I would try to get her in a crib or bassinet sooner rather than later. I don't mean to scare you, but I was really surprised when the ped said all of that.




ETA: DD rolled back to tummy at about 7 weeks and tummy to back at about 11 weeks.

We switched my DS from his bassinet to his crib at about 3.5 months. Before I put him in the crib for the night I also tried putting him in the crib for naps and he would cry so I stopped. I waited until he slept the night in the crib and became used to it. I was a little afraid that because he did not like the crib for naps he would not like it to sleep at night, but he loved it and and now sleeps great in his crib. Now I put him in his crib for one of his 3 naps during the day and he is fine. I have him sleep in his swing for the other two naps.

Also, remember during naps baby sleep much lighter then at night. Maybe you will have more success putting her in the crib at night.

I really do not think the whining your DD was CIO so do not worry about it.

my DS will sleep in the crib at night but not during the day. Naps are either in the swing or the bouncer. I even try the PNP but that nap lasts 15 minutes.

DS is 7 weeks and he has been sleeping in his crib for 1 week now. He takes his Am nap in his swing and if he is having spit up issues during the day I will let him nap in his bouncy seat other than that its into the crib.

Before that it was the bassinet, we moved him last week because DH got a really bad stomach virus and I didnt want DS sleeping in our room.

Before this if I put DS to nap in his crib, 20 minutes later he was awake. This week he has taken 3 hour naps in the crib. And I dont consider what you are doing CIO, I do the same with DS sometimes he will cry for a minute or so as he passes gas or something and then by the time I get to check on him he is asleep again.

Also try putting hte humidifier on in her room, DS seems to sleep more soundly and not get as easily startled with teh "white noise" in teh background.

DD still isn't in her crib. I'm cosleeping and I don't want to give it up yet b.c she is teething and not sleeping through the night. Once I feel like she has more of a set routine I'll slowly move her into her crib.

We moved DS at about 3.5 months or so.

I have read that sleeping in the carseat isn't a good idea thougb

DD was sleeping in her bouncer until the ped told us that it was not good for her airway. So we put her in the bassinet which she hated....the first few nights were brutal. She would fuss and fuss and fuss and take 2 hours to fall asleep. Now she has finally (thank God) gotten used to it. It was very hard...on the bad nights ocassionally I'll let her fall asleep in her bouncer then move her to the bassinet. Sometimes she fusses and I let her. I won't let her cry bloody murder but I do let her fuss it out.
