Does everyone need first year bloodwork?
I just had DS's one year well visit last week and the Dr. didn't mention taking him for one year bloodwork? I didn't think of it until today when one of my friends was complaining the she was dreading taking her DD. Should I contact my pedi? Did she forget to give me the script? TIA

From what I know it's absolutely standard!!! You should call the office, they may have forgotten (But lots of parents don't do it at exactly 1 year for whatever reason, so don't worry!).

I agree. My dd just went for her 1 year bloodwork at 15 months old.

What she said. DS didn't go until 14 months, for no other reason except I kept forgetting to make an appointment.

Yes, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated it to be.  DS was fine after a few pieces of his favorite snack.

I believe it's standard. I would call and ask.
They check the level of lead in the blood as well as iron and other regular stuff.
When I took DS for his bloodwork at 1 year, we found out he was anemic and had to put him on vitamins with iron. So because of that, I think it's important.

Bethany make the appt and just get it over with. Lara is by far one of the worst patients and we just took her two weeks ago. Yes, she cried but to be honest she cries more when they try to do the hearing test on her then the bloodwork. Its not as bad as you imagine

DH took DS for his 1 yr appt last week and they didn't say anything about needing bloodwork.
I think I'll call to ask just in case.
