Does it annoy you when people dont keep the "Christ" in Christmas?
I dont know, maybe i'm just overly sensitive but it irks me when people type "Xmas" instead of Christmas. It loses its meaning..."Christ" is the reason for Christmas, i guess i just feel like people forget what the season is about. 
eta: IM NOT TRYING TO START DRAMA AND THIS IS NOT DIRECTED AT ANYONE IN PARTICULAR.
just wanted to see how everyone else feels.

i honestly never even think of it! i almost always try and use abbreviations for things---so i'm guilty of using 'xmas' a lot when i'm typing!

dont blush , everyone is entitled to do things the way they please. but this is what i mean...we live in a society thats always in such a rush and is always looking for the quick way of doing things -- drive thrus, speed dialing, etc. -- and this time of year i like to just sit back and soak in the meaning of the season. so even if it takes a bit longer for me to hit the shift key and make sure to capitalize and fully type out "Christmas" its worth it and makes me feel all holly jolly.

it does bother me a bit, because christmas is to celebrate the birth of jesus christ and that's what catholics celebrate.

hi all.... your friendly neighborhood armchair religious historian here....
you shouldn't be annoyed by 'XMAS'
This term has been subbing in for 'Christmas' for centuries, and is based in christian traditions.... 'X' subbing in for 'Christ' has exisited for a very long time.... It is NOT rooted in anything secular at all.... and is NOT an attempt to remove Christ from Christmas.
however, xmas should be pronounced 'Christmas', not 'Exmas'.

Not really. I dont think anyone writes/types it to be offensive or because they dont know the real meaning. To me, its just an abbreviation.

Honestly, I'm more annoyed when people don't take the time to use punctuation and capital letters in everyday posts.

Doesn't bother me...I just see it as an abbreviation--I still pronounce it Christmas, and I know the reason for the season, but when typing, Xmas is so much shorter for me!

It really doesn't bother me. I am guilty of doing it & never saw any harm in doing it. I still know what the holiday means & respect it, I am just lazy at times. In my opinion, typing a shortcut for a holiday like Xmas does not take away the meaning in the least bit
