Nah, doesnt bother me at all.
I'm guilty of using it anyway. I will write or type it when doing an email or IM or even a X-Mas list (lol).
Never in a card, will I write X-Mas though.
It's just a shortcut when typing or writing in a hurry........

doesn't bother me at all, I honestly never even thought about it that way when seeing xmas. I know what the season is about no matter how its written.

I've done it in the past, but have been making an effort to type it out. It does annoy me when people don't capitalize the "g" in God.

well, it depends whether their talking about a god (like in mythology) vs the Judeo-Christian God. it is a little annoying when people don't capitalize the G when they mean the latter......

OK, here is another Jewish perspective.
Without knowing the history of "xmas", I never believed that anything could take the "christ" out of christmas. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus.
If you asked me (as an outside) what, if anything, takes the "Christ" out of christmas, its the commercialization fo creating this holiday to be about presents, santa, reindeer, etc... Personally, I see a chirstmas tree or santa and think of christmas. But from what I learned on these boards, a lot of people don't. I never realized that people celebrated Christmas even though they aren't Christian or Catholic.
Its even effected us Jews. Chanukah is not a big deal anywhere in the world BUT here, because someone thought we have to "compete" with Christmas.  But hey, I can live with 8 days of presents

My DH and I are atheist and we celebrate Christmas... to us it's about Family time and tradition, nothing about religion. We go see Santa together, we make Chrismas cookies together, we decorate the tree together, we exchange gifts together... it's all about doing things together as a family.

This term has been subbing in for 'Christmas' for centuries, and is based in christian traditions.... 'X' subbing in for 'Christ' has exisited for a very long time.... It is NOT rooted in anything secular at all.... and is NOT an attempt to remove Christ from Christmas.
however, xmas should be pronounced 'Christmas', not 'Exmas'.

For some reason as lazy as I am, I will NEVER use the lower case g for God. Hmmmmm

nah- doesn't bother me. I hate when people claim to be all Christian and don't behave Christ-like at all (not aiming this at people on the board but some certain Republican candidates)

ugh, now that you mention it - i think i have done that before out of "convenience" a few times in the past but i totally agree with you that it shouldn't be done! i'm going to have to make sure i remind myself not to do that anymore!
