I got home a few days ago and I kept DD with me most of the days I was there, only put her back in the nursery so I could get some sleep. They brought her back every morning at 9. I think you can have them whenever/ as much as you'd like.

It's been a few years, but during the afternoon visiting hours, yes.

The evening visiting hours, no, they are in the nursery only to be looked at through teh glass.

Things may have changed since my last was born there almost 5 years ago.

I visited someone in October of 2010 and there were babies out of the nursery in almost every room we passed (and this was around 7pm).

It's still an option to keep them in the nursery during those later hours, right?

Winthrop recently changed their visiting hours and policies. Visiting is no longer just at night. The baby is brought to you around 9am and stays with you pretty much all day. Visiting hours are from 1-8pm and the baby is in the room with you.

Taken directly from their website

MODIFIED ROOMING-IN - Early and prolonged contact between you and your baby is provided with this program. Your baby will remain in your room from 9:30 am - 6 pm, and again from 8:30 pm until approximately 11 pm. This will enable your newborn to get to know you, see you, respond to your voice and touch, and begin developing feeding and waking patterns. During the day shift, the same nurse will care for you and your baby. This will facilitate learning about your care, as well as the care of your newborn. At night (generally after 10 pm) babies are taken to the Nursery and will be returned to the mothers' rooms during feeding times. Remember, never leave your baby alone or unsupervised in your room.

------------------------------------------

VISITING POLICY...

To allow you to adequate rest, we recommend that you have no more than two (2) visitors at a time.

SIBLING VISITING POLICY

Siblings are the new baby's brothers and sisters ONLY.
All parents are responsible for ensuring that siblings are in good health, which means that they do NOT have rashes, diarrhea, colds or other infections, and that their immunizations are up-to-date prior to visiting with their new brother or sister.
Either the father/significant other or a grandparent must accompany all siblings.

VISITING HOURS: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

No children under the age of 14 are permitted unless they are siblings accompanied by the father or grandparents.
Limit 4 visitors per patient.
No strollers are permitted on the unit.

Visiting policies are different, if your baby is in the NICU.
