During this day they will provide you with the breast pump you can use while you're there. But you have to go through your insurance company to rent one and you actually rented through your insurance company not to the hospital for home.
As far as stool softeners of them they should offer it to you but pending on which nurse you have postpartum they may not . when they ask you if you made a bowel movementand if you say no they may provide one for you.

I didn't deliver at Winthrop but I brought Colace pills with me -- luckily I had one nurse that was amazing and worked a double shift so I had her for a full day -- she gave me just about anything I asked for, but other nurses were pretty stingy with the pills. When they did give them to me, I got 1 which did nothing. I'd been taking 2-3 a day throughout my entire pregnancy. Happy I bought a bottle with me because I could take them as I needed.

I know you can rent a hospital grade pump for $50 a month. Better yet, go on amazon and buy the spectra 2 for $150. Thats what i did and so far i really have been getting a great output (as opposed to the medida pisa i used prior).

I can't answer your breast pump q as I formula fed but I do know they gave me a stool softener to take each day.

Yes they gave me a stool softener everyday I was there 5 days with my c section
