Does anyones child I guess 2 1/2 and over, still sit in restaurant highchairs?

Megan HATES to but she has to. She doesnt sit still in a booth and I am afraid she will tip over a chair. I also dont want to be chasing after her obviously if she tries to get up. Just a better experience if shes in the highchair but people usually look at me like I am nuts when I ask for a highchair.

What do you do with your older toddlers?

Yes, she does otherwise she'd be up and gone within one minute of sitting down. She doesn't love it by any means. Last time we went out I brought play dough and shape makers and that got her to stay along with occasional sips of my soda Chat Icon . Whatever it takes is my theory!

We don't use the restaurant highchair anymore but we do bring our own booster seat. It works out really well for us. Our DD is almost 2.

DD will be 2 in a few weeks. Yesterday was the first time I didn't use a high chair and just opted for the restaurant booster. I was worried since there was no strap to keep her restrained, but she did pretty good!

DS turns 3 this week and he hasn't been in a restaurant high chair for a long time now. i tell him he has to behave or i will get him a high chair and he's really good now. i have a booster of my own, but we've been using it for my younger DD.

no, usually we request a booster seat and a booth. that seems to work best. she will be 3 in June.

Yes, I'm very lucky that Jack doesn't give us a hard time in restaurants. He would def wiggle all over the place if we didn't put him in one.

I've learned the tricks with keeping him happy.....as soon as a waiter approaches us to take drink orders..I ask them to bring us a big bowl of cucumbers immediately (Jack's favorite) and between that and the bread on the table, he's occupied until his meal comes. I also bring a variety of books to keep him happy. HTHChat Icon

eta: he's 2 1/2

I still have DS in a high chair at restaurants and at home. I will use a booster of that's all they have, but I prefer a highchair. DS is almost 2.5

He hasn't been in a highchair since before he was 2. He went into a booster seat around 18 months or so and then to a regular seat.

Everywhere we go usually has a booth so he just sits there with nothing.

DD is almost 28 months and hasn't used the high chair in a really long time. She definitely prefers the chair. Sometimes we can talk her into sitting in the booster, but most times it's just the chair and it usually works out pretty well.

dd will be 2 1/2 at the end of the month and goes in with no problem.....she just seems to know that is where she needs to sit if she wants to go out and eat!

DS hasn't sat in a highchair for a while now - he's three. He doesn't like booster seats, highchairs - apparently he told me that those are for babies not big boys:)

No, unless she asks for it. But my DD hasn't been in a highchair since like 18months old. Chat Icon
