Dog and car sickness
Shamrock has been getting sick in the car. Going out to Greenport (1 1/2 hr ride) he usually gets sick right when we hit Riverhead. Coming home he is usually good. But yesterday on the way home he got sick 20 minutes in to the ride- then again 10 minutes later then when we got home right outside the car. We have tried not feeding him before we leave, and some kind of motion sickness pills that the vet gave us. Is there anything else that can help us?
TIA

Re: Dog and car sickness
For my dog it just took time. He use to get really car sick after 20 minutes and over time it got better. I use to take him for short car ride to help build up his tolerence. Now he rarely gets car sick even on the 7 hour ride to visit DHs parents. I use to cover the car seat with a large black garbage bag that I would cut open and then put an old sheet on top of it. I keep paper towels and fabric/rug cleaner in the car.
I am surprised the pills from the vet did not work- My vet said if it did not get better he would give us pills.
