Dog friendly BEACH!
Does anyone know of any dog friendly beaches? I really want to take my dogs to the beach. I took them to Blydenburgh park. They have a lake but was told not to have my dogs go in because of the leeches.

Re: Dog friendly BEACH!
I didn't hear that about Blydenburgh either. I had Brinkley in the water as well, no leeches. Although whenever he is in water, I always hose him off when we get home, clean his ears, and do a once-over to make sure he's got no new critters on him.
I second Gardiners. We've been there also.
Check your town beaches because in Smithtown, I can bring him on the beach in the off-season from October to April too.

Someone at a nearby picnic table told me they saw leeches and not to have my dog in the water. Maybe we were intruding on their picnic space and didn't want my dogs playing in the water

I checked with my town but they said no dogs. I will call back and ask about off season. Thanks.
Where is Gardiners? Is it far from E. Northport?
Thanks everyone!

Re: Dog friendly BEACH!
You can go to the beach at the Kings Park Bluff. Take Old Indian head rd make a right on Church street and you will run right into it. You will pass the KP Psychiatric center

It's located in West Bayshore on Montauk Hwy. Gardiners Park
It's a great park for dogs.

It's possible I guess. Leeches live in fresh water, and fisherman use them as bait. There is fishing and boat rentals there, so I guess there could be.

Thank you! I googled Gardiners Park and it said it was in Orient Point. West Bayshore is much closer to home.
