Dog Poo on front curb...
Does anyone know what the laws are on dog poop? Or any advice on what to do about this?
We live in a small town in Nassau, and one of our neighbors does not pick up after their dog. They leave poop behind on the stretch of grass that lies between the sidewalk and the street.
I put up signs that read "please curb your dog", and a bag of little bags on two poles by our house. The next morning, there was fresh poo and one sign taken down.
Next up is that pepper stuff we got for the racoons. Not sure that will deter a pooch, but it's worth a shot.
I also contacted the Town of Hempstead to see if there was anything they could do.

I don't know what the laws are, but I tell you I would be stalking the front of my house and when that person comes by I would run outside like an irate lunatic and tell them where to go. Butttt thats just how I handle things. lol

Here's what you do next time- watch to see who does it, follow them home, collect their dogs poo and leave it in a baggy on their front step. If they dont stop, repeat, but smoosh it under the door handle of their car.
I'm pretty sure there are laws against it adn they are supposed to pick it up.

I know out in Babylon the owner can be fined something like 1000/offense. The town told me if I see the person take a picture and report them....they said once they have 3 offenses they will fine them.

I would speak to them. If that doesn't work then I would take a picture of it going on and report them.
And I would pick up their poop and put it infront of their house.

I would not do this. Honestly if they don't care about your signs, your bags and are blantantly saying EFF you to your face ignoring this, I would be very weary of starting a war with this person. There are nuts out there and this person is clearly a nut to have the nerve to do this. It's a hard situation. You want to defend your property and rights but you don't want to create a larger mess.

We have handed our neighbor a baggy of poo. They kept their dog on a leash after that. They used to just let their dog out to run around as it wanted and it crapped all over ours and the neighbors lawns. My dad actually joked about the door handles, but never had to do it (as far as I know).
The thing is, the OPs neighbor is doing it when no one can see it, and most likely b/c no one can see that they aren't picking it up. I'm sure they just let their dog go where it wants so it might be in front of several different houses and they wont know who left the present for them.
