*** (dog post LOL)
So I am working from home this morning. I look out the window and see this lady walking her large dog on my front lawn and he's taking a crap.
I open the front door and yell at her to kindly walk her dog elsewhere.
She's like "sorry, I tried to not let him on your lawn". She thankfully picked up his poo but then takes him next door and walks him on the NEIGHBOR's lawn.
*** is wrong with people?
I guess this is my first big welcome to being a homeowner!

Re: *** (dog post LOL)
hmm - our neighbors walk their dogs on our lawn and other lawns - same with us when we walk char. it doesn't bother me as long as they clean up after their pup... which they always do. it is kind of hard to avoid it when walking through our neighborhood, in particular, because there are no sidewalks with excess grass - it is only people's lawns so when char has to go - she can't go on pavement - so we just bring along baggies to clean up after her with.

Well there are sidewalks here with excess grass. It's part of being a responsible dog owner IMHO.
It's rude. I would never walk my dog on someone's lawn, I deserve the same in return.

ITA, but where I live, t here are sidewalks so everyone walks their dog on the sidewalk grass. In that case, I could care less, as long as they pick up the poop. That's my only pet peeve. Or of course if somene was coming to my lawn PURPOSELY every day, then I would get annoyed if they are specifically coming to me. But for someone just walking by, doesn't bug me at all.
If there was no sidewalk grass, I would not let my dog on someone's actual lawn. I don't know what I would do, but I would not let them on teh actual "front" lawn but ETA - I would hope they would go right by the curb, on the curb, where the grass meets the curb. My dogs will never pee or crap on concrete.

I can see your point but as long as they clean it up IDK if it would bother me all that much - for me personally, if there were extra space with grass where I live I would command Char to go there but where I live there is none of that so if we just want to take her for a nice walk and she has to go - it pretty much HAS to be on someone's lawn. Everyone in my area kind of just understands this - makes sure to clean up after their dog and then that's that.

Re: *** (dog post LOL)
I dunno. I still don't want random people hanging out on my yard, regardless. That in and of itself opens up a whole can of worms.

What yard? Your front lawn?
Me personally, if I did not have sidewalk grass, I would not mind if a dog peed on the area very close to the curb. Dogs naturally smell the curb or border area of grass/concrete, etc.

Exactly. I could care less about the curb. But she was walking around basically right underneath our front window. I would have never noticed her otherwise probably.

Is your front window close or far from the curb? I don't think Dani or any of us would do that, that's just rude. We are talking about dogs walking close to the curb area, and maybe going on the grass right there so close to the street.
I think that's what Dani means, I don't think Dani would be letting Char run up to someone's front window to pee, not at all.

Re: *** (dog post LOL)
I don't allow my dog to go on my front lawn b/c I don't want it to be ruined by Arnold's urine.
If I don't allow MY dog to go on my front lawn, I certainly wouldn't be down with letting someone elses dog do it.
I don't know where you live, but in Suffolk, most people have yards, their dogs can go there to do their business.
Now I do understand the occasional need to go while on a walk, but that's why I carry a plastic bag with me and if Arnold has to pee, I make sure he does it on the side of the road or in the woods. We live in a wooded area so this is an option for us.

I walk my dog and I would never let my dog run around on someones lawn. He does walk near the curb, sometimes on the grass, but just walking by, never to hang out and poop.

forget rude - lol - that's just weird!!! she's like ON your porch?!! hahaha nah - out in suffolk, maybe you live in nassau, IDK? i don't think any towns out here have that excess grass area with sidewalk -- b/c now that i'm thinking about it my parents area doesn't have it either so i think it is pretty much suffolk county that doesn't have it -- so, if there is no excess grass with sidewalk char goes AS CLOSE TO the curb as possible - of course, it is still someone else's lawn but i would never just walk into the middle of someone's grass or just walk on up to the house like hey, how are ya?!

Yeah, now you can see why I was annoyed! We live on the border of Nassau in South Shore Suffolk. Most people on our block at least have fenced-in yards so go figure......anyways, have a good day ladies. Gotta go catch a train to the city!

For us - Char does 99% of her biz in the BACKyard but everyday -- especially now with the nice weather -- I take her for a long walk for my health and hers lol I need the exercise! But we walk daily almost a mile around the whole neighborhood and well, when ya gotta go ya gotta go... But I take her for walks because her breed needs to get their "energy" out each day and also I need to walk off lunch haha.
I totally understand your points - especially coming close to the house - it's just hard when walking your dog sometimes... That is why I always make sure to clean up after her and I, personally, give her those pills that do not stain the grass - b/c, like you, I don't want her staining my grass or anyone else's!

ANywhere near your home is just rude and WEIRD. I would go bezerk. Near the curb, slightly on the grass, if no other option, I wouldn't mind as long as they pick the poop up.

Same here- we have no sidewalks either.

There are no sidewalks in my area but I still will never let Cooper onto someone else's lawn, whether it be just to sniff and walk or do to his business... even if the dog owner cleans up the mess left by the dog, there is still some mess left behind that got caught in the grass, so IMO, you're never fully cleaning up after the dog.

Re: *** (dog post LOL)
I don't have sidewalks either and I have noticed a lot of people who allow their dogs to urinate/defecate on my lawn. They do pick up after the dogs.
I originally wanted to do a border planting of flowers close to the end of my property and I'm now rethinking that plan. Maybe putting a few feet of mulch closest to the curb would be better.
Not only does dog urine stain grass, if it happens enough in the same spots (like when multiple dogs mark the same territory), it can kill grass.

Re: *** (dog post LOL)
i guess i'm guilty of this. i try to get katie to go before we go for a walk but sometimes she catches me off guard. i carry baggies though. i try to keep her on the pavement (there are no sidewalks) but she likes to hop up on the lawn. her leash is only 4 ft so she doesn't get that far. she tends to just stop short and go. at least the woman cleaned it up though- i HATE when i am walking and there is a big pile of poop.
