Dog question - UTI (bumping with new question)
A few months ago I posted about my dog having a UTI.
She just had a second one since then, so now two in three months.
The vet is suggesting cranberry pills to help avoid them in the future. Maybe a long shot but has anyone's dog taken these? Any recommended brand? And did they actually help? (I used to hear that cranberry helped humans avoid UTIs, but I thought that was disproven ).
My dog is a very picky eater - I'd be shocked if I could get her to take these.
Thanks!

Re: Dog question - UTI? (and somewhat TMI)
I have a cat who had bloody urine on 2 occasions. Once was a UTI, once was bladder crystals. Both times he was peeing outside his box and also peeing a lot, straining to go, peeing small amounts, and crying in pain. Antibiotics and a special wet diet helped both times.
Just get her to the vet tomorrow but it most likely is something simple to fix. Good luck!

Thank you, i'm hoping it's something like this. My optimistic side is saying that she'd probably have some other symptoms too if it were something worse.

Has she been peeing more frequently but not a lot? That's usually the first sign of UTI.
The most common reasons for blood in urine is UTI and stones. it's scary to see, but try not to get too worried just yet

Same with my cat. They sell over the counter pet uti meds that I tried and it didn't work so I went to the vet and it was bladder stones. We had surgery done.

Re: Dog question - UTI? (and somewhat TMI)
My dog has had this, bright red blood for urine. But she also had accompanying bladder infections symptoms (discomfort, frequency, urgency, etc). I saw the blood because she was then urinating in the house due to the infection. Get a sample if you can, when your dog squats, stick a shallow tupperware under her and go the vet asap.

For my dog, that meant bladder stones. Hope that's all it is.

Dog question - UTI? (and somewhat TMI)
Had a friends dog who had this. I remember she didn't have surgery and just antibiotics.

Dog question - UTI? (and somewhat TMI)
Thank you for the responses!! I never got around to posting again until now. Seems like you guys were all correct. Her urine showed a high white blood cell count, blood of course, and evidence of crystals and she is on an antibiotic. Hopefully that's the end of it!
