Doing construction with a baby in the house?

Has anyone done construction in their house while having DC there? Were you worried about the chemicals used and the dust and all that? How did you deal with it?

We are going to be remodeling our bathrooms (ouerselves) and I am worried about doing it with DS so close to it all. Am I being overly neurotic as usual?

I had baseboards put in my house when my first dc was about 4 months old. the noise didn't bother her and most of the debris was contained so she was fine.

I was worried but as long as the house has time to air out then everything should be fine.

We'll be spackling & painting our mudroom and living room as well as painting our kitchen and bathroom.

I'll be sure to keep DD's bedroom door closed and keep her out of the house while all of this is going on.

We're about to start some major construction/renovation in our house and I have a 2 1/2 month old DD. I'm a little worried, but not too much. I'll make sure to keep her away from the dust and be out of the house for when they're doing the work as much as possible.

Im having work done right now.
DS is napping.
The drills and hammers are going off and on and thank goodness he's sleeping through it.
Windows are open.
They are working downstairs and up here as well. ALL of DS' toys are in my bedroom and his...

I start babysitting tomorrow and my cousin is OK with everything (thank goodness).

Re: Doing construction with a baby in the house?

We're having major work done now, but luckily it's an addition to the side of the house, so they aren't breaking through until they are closer to being done. It's affecting DD's nap, but we'll figure something out. Not too worried about dust and chemicals, since the dust will be easy to contain, and the paint will all be zero VOC, so no poisonous gasses from that. The carpet will be corn-byproduct based, and very low VOC, and the bamboo flooring will be very low to no VOC as well.
