Don't know when to start maternity leave.

My job gives us 4 weeks off at full pay before delivery. If we go before the 4 weeks are up, we lose that pay. (can take the time after as unpaid leave). I am due Jan. 15th, but the doctor told me the latest I can go is 39 weeks which brings be to Jan. 8th.
BUT, average gestation for twins is around 36-37 weeks.

I have taken off the week of Thanksgiving, so my dilema is either just not to go back (make first day of leave Dec. 1st) or work the week after Thanksgiving and make the first day of leave Dec. 8th.


What would you do?



ETA: I can't believe I am at the point where I have to decide when to start my leave

I would not go back after Thanksgiving. You will most likely have the babies before 39 weeks-- and if you go longer, you will still get disability pay but you will never get the full pay back.

I wouldnt go back. Just take the time. You are more than likely going to go before 39 weeks.

I was just forced to start my maternity leave at 36 weeks because of fiths disease in my building. They could have reassigned my somewhere else, but at this point, it was jsut easier to stay home.
