Dormer and extension
DH and I saw a house we liked a lot... actually it wasn't the house it was the location. I love the block, neighborhood etc. Only problem is the house :( If we put in a low ball offer (and if it's accepted) we would love to re-do the floor plan and add a dormer on top. Anyone have experience with additions and remodeling? It would be turning a ranch into a colonial and moving the kitchen from the front of the house to the back... Basically how much would it cost.. (including everything like appliances, flooring, etc) to do all this? Any ball park estimates would be appreciated. TIA

Re: Dormer and extension
Your probably looking at close to $200k especially since you will be moving the kitchen.
We moved the boiler and the stairs, gutted the whole down stairs, knocked the walls down so the downstairs is one big room, put in a new kitchen, and did a full dormer with one peak.
You will spend more than you expect. You end up adding things to your list.
