Dormer Question
I live in a 3 bedroom colonial. There are currently no rooms above the garage. We are considering dormering over the garage to build 1 or 2 more bedrooms. We already have 2 bathrooms upstairs and wouldn't need another. Does anyone have any idea of the cost? I know it is hard to estimate because I don't know the square footage, but basically it would not be a full dormer or even a half dormer since we already have a full upstairs on most of the house. Just trying to gauge whether this would be like a $20k project or more like a $100k project. TIA.

Re: Dormer Question
I think $30-$40k. We spent $110k on a full dormer 8 years ago.

Re: Dormer Question
I'd call a few contractors in and ask if they can give a round about but the proper way to get a real estimate is to hire an architect for plans then you take those plans for bids. Unfortunately the architect must be paid. So it can be u get the plans then find out not possible to do financially. But u can go to one of those all in one contractor places and they might be able to give u a overall estimate
