double sink

if you have one, do you love or hate?

if you dont have one, do you wish you did?

ive always wanted one and i found one with a large main sink, so i wouldnt be compromising size for washing pots/pans.

just looking for opinions. Chat Icon

Re: double sink

I have a double sink and absolutely hate it. It's a pain to clean my big frying pans/roasting pans since either half isn't big enough. I'd rather have one big one.

Re: double sink

had a double sink in my old ktchen we went for 2 large single sinks (my dh and i both cook together a lot)

so much easier to wash and soak pots and pans in a single basin sink

Re: double sink

I have a double, chose one with one big side and one little side. The little side has the disposal. I don't mind it but I wouldn't choose it again, I would choose one big sink. Sometimes that piece in the middle is a PITA while washing bigger pans/cutting boards, etc.

Re: double sink

DH was big on the double sink.
I actually really like it.

We have a big section & little section. I use the little section for soaking baby bottles or you it for veggies etc.

It's great during holidays, big dinners.

Re: double sink

I grew up with a double bowel, and it was a huge pain to wash pots and pans, basically anything big. It would fill up with dirty dishes quickly as there was no room, and basically no room to wash anything if oyu havce a sink with any other dishes in it.

I had a single sink in my old house and loved it. We redid the ktichen in our "new" house and put in a large single sink, its great.

Franke Orca sink with bottom grid, and a have a side shelf. Its a real nice size

Re: double sink

HATE my double sink! I can't wash my big pans in it at all and I can't give my kids a bath in it either if I had to! I would love to get a single one if I could, but I can't!

Re: double sink

I prefer the size of a single sink for washing large items but the convenience of a double sink to fill one side with soapy water and use one for rinsing.

I'me intrigued by this option I've seen with a half-high center portion that lets you fill one side with soapy water or fill the whole thing if you need a larger basin. Frying pans with handles fit in because you can put the pan in one side and the handle extends over the center section. When we renovate I plan to look into something like this further.
