Re: Drinking Alcohol while Pregnant- Gwyneth seen 2x this week
I personally would not drink while preggo and never did. However, it is a new/old thing where the studies now show you can drink through your pregnancy (not excessive, one glass of wine a day) Personally, I wouldn't and couldn't.

The way I see it there are so many things out of your control while pregnant that could go wrong and cause problems, so if you have control over what is best, then why risk it.
I agree 100%!

Re: Drinking Alcohol while Pregnant- Gwyneth seen 2x this week
I am only asking because I am too lazy to look it up...what are the actual risks of having a few drinks during pregnancy? Surely our mothers smoked and drank while they were pregnant with us in the 60's and 70's and we were fine!!
I had a few drinks, but smoking...now thats a big no no!!!

Giving up drinking for months for a healthy baby is something I am willing to do.
This is my stance as well. Sure, i COULD have the occasional drink, in the end, the CHANCE is enough to have me NOT drink.
Ditto a thousand times.
ditto a million times!

Re: Drinking Alcohol while Pregnant- Gwyneth seen 2x this week
I never drank alcohol while I was pregnant. Only a sip of champagne when my SIL got engaged. I think an occassional glass of wine is fine, but I didn't have one anyway. Hasn't Gwyneth heard of fetal alcohol syndrome? I've worked with children with FAS and it is so sad what having too much alcohol can do to a child.

I think the whole thing with Gwyneth was blown out of control- she's been such a health nut for years so I am skeptical about the three glasses of wine thing. As for the Guiness, she lived in London while pregnant with her first and probably downed the occasional pint then too.

Sorry to crash your board, but drinking while pregnant can cause FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). FAS can cause developmental and psychological problems in children, and can also affect the facial features of the child. Even mild social drinkers can have babies with FAS.
