drinking and TTC
we're probably starting TTC next month. I was just wondering...will you/do you drink while TTC? I mean just a couple of drinks socially on weekend and such or a glass with dinner.

Re: drinking and TTC
Think about all of the women who got pregnant as a result of drinking. You will be fine. I just wouldn't drink excessively.

Re: drinking and TTC
I'm not going to stop drinking. I don't drink excessively and I don't think you actually share blood with the embyro until after you would get a BFP anyway. I know tooo many people who had no idea they were pregnant and drank a lot. All the babies are great and healthy! I am trying to cut back on caffeine and artificial sweetners now so I don't have to do it all at once though.

Re: drinking and TTC
I stopped except when I had my period during the TTC stage. No one knows how much is safe, so I decided it wasn't worth the risk to me.

Re: drinking and TTC
I have cut back on the weekend drinks me and my DH would have. But I don't drink much anymore anyway. From what I read, since it could take months I think the occassional drink is fine, just nothing obsessive. (If someone found different, please share)
I have cut out coffee, except for maybe a cup once in a while (can't remember my last one it's been so long).
And I barely drink diet soda too, so it won't be hard to cut that out when the time comes.

Re: drinking and TTC
I would still have a glass of wine every so often, i've heard doctors sometimes even recommend this if you have a lot of stress. I just wouldn't get really drunk, and since once you have a little one you wouldn't want to do anyway its a good time to stop that anyway

Re: drinking and TTC
It's fine to drink in moderation while you're TTC - you don't share a bloodstream with the baby until a little later - so it's really not a problem.

Re: drinking and TTC
We're almost there (TTCing) and I'm not eliminating anythng - just cutting back. So drinking coffee, alcohol, etc. - but in moderation. I think you're fine and definitely not a "bad mommy to be" - its great you're even thinking about it, that makes you a good one

Re: drinking and TTC
I went the first few months of TTC not drinking unless I had AF. But now, 8 months later and still no BFP, I now enjoy myself and will drink socially until I do get that BFP.

Re: drinking and TTC
I did not drink while TTC with my daughter. I didn't know I was pregnant the second time so drank socially. This time around I am not drinking while TTC.
I am more educated now on my pregnancy disorder called Hyperesmisis Gravidarum. While TTC you are on a strick diet so drinking is def. out for me. Don't miss it either.

Re: drinking and TTC
I don't drink a lot to begin with... but I slow it down even more during the TWW.

Re: drinking and TTC
I typically drink socially, such as when we're out to dinner with friends or possibly on the weekend. Nothing more otherwise and certainly not in excess so I haven't cut it out. However, once I know I am PG I will cut it out completely.
I sometimes think changing your lifestyle too much while TTC puts additional, unnecessary pressure on you whether it's a concious decision or not.
