Re: Driving Pet Peeves-Post em' so we all can learn!!

- A long line of cars all speeding up to pass instead of letting me into their lane when I have my blinker on and need to get over.

-Not signaling to turn. So I'm supposed to guess at your intentions and plan accordingly?

-The left turn lane continuing to enter the intersection to turn left even though the turn arrow is red already, thus making everyone who DOES have the green wait.

-People who use their brights and then don't turn them off as you approach.

-People speeding through parking lots. Hello, people are walking around all over the place, be careful!

-Driving with a cell phone to your ear - there's a reason it's illegal now.

Can you tell I've seen my share of bad drivers lately?!

"driving" in the left lane...the left lane is for passing!Chat Icon

One of my biggest too. I don't care if you are doing 100 mph, if you aren't passing anyone in the other lanes, move the hell over.

Many of the ones previously mentioned here I totally agree with.

Mine are:

not thanking me when I let you in especially if you have waited to the last minute

Just curious, but my mom took that defensive driving course and told me when you wave someone and if an accident were to happen then the person who waved would be responsible b/c the wave says 'OK'.

Is there any truth to this or was my mom too lazy to wave thank you when she told me this story? Chat Icon

I can not see how it would be the person who waved responsibility! YOU as the driver are responsible for your vehichle and actually making sure all is clear before proceeding! I could be wrong but I can't see there being any truth to that!

I see what you are saying, but the person who waves is like saying OK. So go ahead, and if you hit me then it is OK.

It is kind of like saying "I'm sorry" at an accident scene. You are accepting responsibility that it was your fault. I did that once and I was fully responsible for an accident. Chat Icon

Now that I have an actual commute to work, I have driving pet peeves Chat Icon

-Cutting me off when NO ONE is behind me and going 10 MPH Chat Icon

-Cutting me off just to get ahead to the RED LIGHT Chat Icon

-Riding the shoulder to cut ahead in the line of traffic--so dangerous and really gets me heated!

-Not thanking me when I let you in front of me

-Not letting me in because you're just rude

-Weaving in and out of traffic

-Stopping short for NO REASON or people who are brake-happy Chat Icon

-People who don't trip the traffic light so our lane gets skipped

I think thats all!

ITA with all the one already mentioned. I'll add mine but some people might not understand my frustration.

-High beaming me because I have Xenon lights. My brights are not ON. Even after I flash them back to show them that my high beams are not on, they continue to high beam me again and again.

In addition, this pet peeve has to do with after driving but leaving the hands free Bluetooth device in. I don't know why but it bothers me when people still have the ear piece while eating in a restaurant or shopping. I guess it is convenient but I find it odd.

Waiting until the last minute to get into the lane you need to be in deliberately because you want to bypass the line of people waiting and zoom up until the ast minute.

SMOKING out the window.

Throwing trash out the window.

People become animals behind the wheel. Chat Icon

I could list so many, and I am sure they've been posted (I didn't read through the whole thread yet), but here are mine:

driving while on the cell phone Chat Icon

honking and riding my azz, or even passing me on my block because I am going 35 (the speed limit in my residential area is 30!!).

turning off a side street in front of me while I am going 45 down a main road, only to go super slowwwwwww

I heard this before, too. It's crazy how an act of kindness can come back and slap you in the face.

Slow drivers. I literally want to smash right into them sometimes. I can swear they do it on purpose sometimes.

People who jump the light to make a left turn when I'm going straight. Ever heard of "Right of Way" jerk0ff?

People who cant park straight in a parking lot.

Re: Driving Pet Peeves-Post em' so we all can learn!!

I live in NC and I take alot of back roads going home -- one-lane, winding, country roads.....The other night, it was raining so hard that visibility was extremely limited. Some azzhat was on my bumper the whole way. It made me so much more nervous: a) I'm pregnant; b) if a deer jumps out and I have to brake, this dumbazz is slamming into me.

When he finally drove around me, I flipped him off, even though he could have been a nutcase with a gun, I was just so flippin ANGRY that people like this put me and my babies life in danger.

Another major peeve.......When there is a long line of cars at a light in a turning lane......or a line of cars trying to get onto an exit ramp.........Some jerkoff decides he's better than everyone else and doesn't have to wait......goes to the front of the line and tries to cut in......I want to slap the $hit out of these people...

Re: Driving Pet Peeves-Post em' so we all can learn!!

A few of my million driving pet peeves:

--Double parking in a driving lane so I have to stop & switch lanes to go around you

--not signaling before changing lanes... am I supposed to read your mind???

--not stopping at STOP signs... people do this all the time!!!! Chat Icon

--people speeding & cutting you off to get past you just to get stuck at a red light anyway

--people honking when you obviously can't go anywhere due to traffic

--people taking their sweet time at green lights because they KNOW they're going to make it through without any regard for the person 2 or 3 cars behind Chat Icon

Re: Driving Pet Peeves-Post em' so we all can learn!!

I live in FL so I have the winners (mainly the older folks):

- Use you turn signals when changing lanes especially on a busy interstate.

- Do not cut me off then go slow.

- Do not cut me off becuase you need to make a right turn into the parking lot or get off an exit. It is not my fault your in the wrong lane. Chat Icon

- This is for all the tourists * Do not go 55 in the left lane on the interstate. The speed limit is 70 MPH.

- Do not stop short when the car in front of you is 2 car lenghts away.

- Please put the map and the cell phone away. You can't concentrate while driving.

- Put your makeup and brush your hair before leaving the house.

- The stop sign means stop not go.

- I love the drivers who race past you then get stuck behind a slow driver in each lane. DH and I see that quite often and get a good laugh out of it.

Last but not least:

GET OFF MY ARSE. I can not go any faster if there is a car in front of me. What do you want me to do drive through him. Chat Icon

Stealing a parking spot when someone has their blinker on

this just happened to me

I was waiting for a spot-

I moved over to let the lady who pulled out get by

I was about to pull in- which takes me a minute in my SUV- when another driver

stole the spot

1. Not signaling before changing lanes.
2. Not driving in your lane. a.k.a. hovering.
3. Not signaling if you are turning right or left.
4. Did I mention not signaling?
5. Driving in the far left lane and not passing. The left lane is for passing and/or driving faster than the ppl in the other lanes.
6. Not using your headlights when it is raining.
7. Tailgating. It won't make me drive faster. In fact, when someone tailgates me I usually take my foot off of the gas and slow down.

Talking on the phone without a handsfree/bluetooth thing.

Reading the newspaper while driving (I see this DAILY!)

cutting me off, by pulling out of a side street then proceeding to go 15mph UNDER the speedlimit when I can't pass you!

Also, the riding my azz thing really ticks me off!

I know I have more!

OMG. I have the same peeve when walking. People always cut in front of me during my high speed lunch walk and then walk slow. Aghhhhhhhhh.

today's annoyance:

people who ride the right lane and speed up/keep pace to prevent anyone from merging on to the parkway. Chat Icon

Actually, mine is kind of the opposite. How about ppl who speed down the on ramp as if they have the right of way and expect the drivers on the parkway to yield to them?

As someone who is from the hicks I have some redneck advice. We small town folk move over to the shoulder to let ppl pass in situations like this. When the driver in front of us doesn't do this we can get a little peeved. Believe me, I've had my moments. Chat Icon Just something my dad taught me when I was learning to drive on those small country roads.

How about blocking a box? I have to make a left turn to get into work. There just happens to be a traffic light feet from my building. Everyday ppl block my turn when they get the red light.
