dropping progesterone

So I had written that my sister was expecting after 18 months of trying. While her HCG was doubling within 72 hours, her progesterone went from 27 to 16 to 2. They started her on suppositories yesterday but I feel like 2 offers no hope. They insisted on starting her on progesterone regardless.

Prayers would be great. And if anyone has a positive story to share that would be wonderful but from what I'm reading it doesn't look good. She's so upset. Chat Icon

dropping progesterone

My p4 dropped to below 10 with my 1st pregnancy and I was immediately put on PIO as I was on supps...the supps will not show up in your bloodwork as PIO does...I would immediately ask for PIO...I lost my daughter to cervical issues and nothing to do with my progesterone but she needs to be on PIO ASAP

Re: dropping progesterone

so after 3 days of progesterone suppositories, it went from 2 to 21 and her hcg tripled from 2000 to almost 6000.

Cautiously optimistic!! What an emotional rollercoaster.

She had a scan and it showed a gestational sac and yolk sac. She won't have another ultrasound for a week, hoping to see a heartbeat and continued growth.

How are things going with your sister?

Hi! Thanks for asking!

So she went the other day for an u/s. She should have been 7 weeks 2 days and measured 8 days behind (6 weeks 1 day). HR is 117 and her hcg was rechecked. Doubling time is now at 111 hours but they say that can slow?

She's on eggshells constantly. she will have another scan done wed morning. just praying right now. But the doctor warned the 8 days behind can be a red flag..

update on my sister

She ended up miscarrying at 9 weeks. Baby was consistently measuring 9 days behind and even though there was heartbeat and there was growth, the doctor suspected the extremely low progesterone was a sign that this was an unhealthy pregnancy. Sometimes it can be saved if the issue was progesterone to begin with but here it was most likely chromosomal. She'll know more soon.

Thx everyone for the well wishes and prayers. I'm hopeful they'll conceive again soon.
